The 2023 Nigeria Invitational Women's T20I Tournament was a women's Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Nigeria from 27 March to 2 April 2023. [1] The venue for all of the matches was the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos. [2] This was the second edition of the tournament with WT20I status, with Rwanda returning to defend the title. [3] In the 2022 tournament, Rwanda defeated the hosts Nigeria in the final. [4]

In addition to the 2022 finalists, Ghana and Sierra Leone also returned this year, while Cameroon made their debut in the tournament. [5] Gambia, who competed in 2022, withdrew for personal reasons. [1]

Rwanda finished on top of the round-robin table after defeating Nigeria in the last match. [6] However, Nigeria then defeated Rwanda by 9 runs in the final to win the tournament. [7] [8] [9] Sierra Leone beat Cameroon in the third-place play-off. [10]

These were the first matches with WT20I status to be played by either side after the International Cricket Council announced that all matches played between women's teams of Associate Members after 1 July 2018 would have full T20I status. The venue for all of the matches was the National Stadium in Abuja.

The Nigeria women's cricket team toured Rwanda in September 2019 to play a five-match Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) series. The two teams had previously played a five-match series in Abuja, Nigeria in January 2019, with Nigeria winning 3–2. This return tour was Rwanda's turn to host Nigeria.

The 2022 ACA Africa T20 Cup was a cricket tournament played in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa. The finals tournament was originally scheduled to be held in September 2019, but was moved to March 2020, with the original host city being Nairobi, Kenya. On 9 March 2020, the tournament was postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the Kenyan government's 30-day ban on international gatherings. The tournament was eventually rescheduled for September 2022.

The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier was a cricket tournament played as part of the qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, during October and November 2021.

The 2021 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier was a cricket tournament that was played in Botswana in September 2021. The matches were played as Twenty20 International (T20I) matches, with the top team progressing to the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament. Botswana, Cameroon and Eswatini made their debuts at an ICC women's event. Malawi were originally named as taking part in the tournament, but they were replaced by Eswatini.

The 2024 Nigeria Invitational Women's T20I Tournament is a women's Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that is scheduled to take place in Nigeria from 25 February to 3 March 2024. The participating teams will be Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Tanzania. Nigeria are the defending champions, having defeated Rwanda in the final in 2023.
