The 2023 RAN Women's Sevens are a North American rugby sevens tournament that took place at the Starlight Stadium, Langford on 19 and 20 August 2023; they were held in Canada for the second time. The defending champions are Mexico. The winners will earn qualification to the 2024 Olympics. [1]

The teams a round-robin pool and each play against their pool opponents. The top two sides play in the final, the third and fourth place teams play for Bronze.

Rugby sevens was played at the Olympics for the first time at the 2016 Summer Olympics, with both men's and women's contests. It was added to the Olympics following the decision of the 121st IOC Session in Copenhagen in October 2009. The Rugby Americas North Sevens is the rugby sevens competition for the confederation of North American and Caribbean rugby. It periodically serves as the regional qualifying competition for the World Cup Sevens and the Rugby sevens at the Olympics. In the early years of the competition the tier two teams from North America did not always participate or only sent representative sides outside of tournaments for World Cup qualification (2012) or Olympic qualification (2015).

Twelve teams qualified for men's rugby sevens at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Japan automatically qualified as host, with the top four teams of the 2018–19 World Rugby Sevens Series securing their spots. Afterwards, qualification was determined with each of the six continental confederations determining a representative, and the remaining qualification spot determined through an international sevens tournament.

The 2019 RAN Women's Sevens was the 15th edition of the annual rugby sevens tournament organized by Rugby Americas North. It was played at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands. Six national teams played a round robin. With Canada and the United States already eligible for the 2020 Summer Olympics by way of the 2018–19 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series, the top two finishing teams of the tournament are eligible for a 2020 repechage tournament.

The United States of America, represented by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), is scheduled to compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024. U.S. athletes have appeared in every Summer Olympic Games of the modern era, except for the 1980 edition in Moscow, when America led a sixty-six-nation boycott in protest of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. As Los Angeles hosts the 2028 Summer Olympics, the United States will march penultimately before the homebound French team enters Place du Trocadéro during the parade of nations segment of the opening ceremony. The 2023 Africa Women's Sevens was the 11th edition of the Africa Women's Sevens, an annual African rugby sevens tournament. The qualifier event took place at the Lusaka Rugby Club, Zambia between 1 and 2 July 2023. The main event took place in Tunisia. The winner qualified for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, and the second and third placed teams qualified for the 2024 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament. In addition, the top two teams qualified for the 2024 Challenger Series.
