The 2024 Centrobasket Women was the 24th edition of the tournament. Eight teams featured in the competition, held in Irapuato, Mexico from 5 to 10 November 2024. [1] The top four teams qualified for the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup. [2]

Contents

Puerto Rico won their fourth consecutive and fifth overall title after defeating the Dominican Republic in the final.

The 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women was a women's basketball tournament that consisted of 12 national teams, where the top five teams earned a place in the 2016 Summer Olympics basketball tournament. It was held from 13 to 19 June 2016. France hosted the tournament in the city of Nantes.

The 2016 Men's Central American and Caribbean Basketball Championship, also known as 2016 Centrobasket, was the regional basketball championship of FIBA Americas for the Central American and Caribbean subzone. The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification process determined 30 of the 32 teams that qualified for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. As co-hosts, the Philippines and Japan each got an automatic qualification for the tournament when they were awarded the joint hosting rights along with co-host Indonesia.

Twelve teams qualified for the women's basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics tournament. The host nation and the 2018 World Cup winner qualified. Those two teams, however, had to play in the pre-qualifying and qualifying tournaments and took one of the qualifying spots from those tournaments. Thus, while two of the World Qualifying Tournaments provided quota spots to their three top teams, the other two tournaments provided quota spots only to the top two teams plus either the host nation or the World Cup winner.

They were originally scheduled to take place from 23 to 28 June 2020 but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to 29 June to 4 July 2021.
