The Centrobasket is a FIBA-sponsored international basketball tournament where national teams from Central America and the Caribbean participate. These countries make up the Central American and Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CONCENCABA). The top three or four Women's National teams typically earn berths to the FIBA Women's AmeriCup, from which they can qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup or Summer Olympics. Teams qualify for these tournaments by finishing high in the previous Centrobasket or by placing high at the FIBA COCABA Championship for Mexico and the seven Central American countries and at the FIBA CBC Championship for the 23 Caribbean countries. In total, 31 countries have an opportunity to qualify their national teams for Centrobasket, yet all of them do not enter teams regularly.
FIBA Americas is a zone within FIBA. It is one of FIBA's five continental confederations. FIBA Americas is responsible for the organization and governance of the major international tournaments in the Americas. It has 44 FIBA Federations and is headquartered in Miami, Florida. The current FIBA Americas President is Carol Callan of the United States.
The FIBA AmeriCup is the Americas Basketball Championship that takes place every four years between national teams of the Western Hemisphere continents.
The CBC Championship or CaribeBasket is a FIBA-sponsored international basketball tournament where national teams from the Caribbean participate. These countries are members of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC). The top three or four teams typically earn berths to the Centrobasket where they compete for spots in the FIBA AmeriCup, from which they can qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup or Summer Olympics. There are currently 24 Caribbean countries that may compete in this event.
The COCABA championship is a regional basketball qualifying tournament and the first of four possible steps that Central American national teams have to participate in order to qualify for major international basketball competitions.
The Bahamas national basketball team represents The Bahamas in international men's basketball.
The FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship is the Americas basketball championship for players under 16 years that take place every two years among national teams of the FIBA Americas zone. The event started in 2009. The top four finishers qualify for the FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup.

The Nicaragua men's national basketball team is the national basketball team in Nicaragua. They have yet to appear in the FIBA World Cup or the FIBA AmeriCup.

The 2015 FIBA COCABA Championship for Women was the regional basketball championship of FIBA Americas for the Central American and Caribbean subzone. First and second national teams qualified to 2016 Centrobasket Women. The tournament was held in the city of Cartago, Costa Rica, from 23 to 27 September 2015.
The 2016 Men's Central American and Caribbean Basketball Championship, also known as 2016 Centrobasket, was the regional basketball championship of FIBA Americas for the Central American and Caribbean subzone. The top five teams automatically qualified for Division A of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification and for the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup, with the top seven qualifying for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games. The tournament was held in the city of Panama City from June 19 to June 25.

The 2018 FIBA Under-18 Women's Americas Championship is an international basketball competition that currently takes place from August 1–7, 2018 in Mexico City, Mexico. This is the twelfth edition of the championship, and is the FIBA Americas qualifying tournament for the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Thailand. Eight national teams from across the Americas, composed of women aged 19 and under, will compete in the tournament.

Nicolas Devir Claxton is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Georgia Bulldogs. Drafted as a second round pick by the Nets, Claxton had a breakout season in the 2022-23 which he became a starting center for the team since his 3rd season with the team.
