2001 Centrobasket

This page shows the results of the 2001 Men's Central American and Caribbean Basketball Championship, also known as the 2001 Centrobasket , which was held in the city of Toluca, Mexico from July 11 to July 15, 2001. The top four teams qualified for the 2001 Pan American Tournament, scheduled for August 16 to August 27 in Neuquén, Argentina.

Dathan James Ritzenhein is a retired American long-distance runner, and current head coach of On Athletics Club. He held the American record in the 5,000 metres (12:56.27) from 2009-2010, when it was broken by Bernard Lagat. He is a three-time national cross country champion with wins at the USA Cross Country Championships in 2005, 2008 and 2010. Formerly a Nike athlete for the majority of his professional career, Dathan joined the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project team in 2017. In early May 2020, he announced his retirement from competition. He signed with the Swiss shoe brand On shortly thereafter in June 2020 and currently acts as the coach for the OAC in Boulder, Colorado.

The 18th Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships were held in the Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, between 2–4 July 2011, and organized by the Federación Dominicana de Asociaciones de Atletismo (FDAA). The event was open for athletes from the invited countries, that are members of the Central American and Caribbean Athletic Confederation (CACAC), in two categories: Junior A Category: 17 to 19 years as of 31 December 2010, and Junior B Category: 14 to 16 years as of 31 December 2010. By IAAF standards, Junior A is equal to Junior, while Junior B is equal to Youth.

Shelby Houlihan is an American middle distance runner, Olympian and World Record holder in the 4x1500m relay. She also holds the American record in both the 1500 meters and 5000 meters. Houlihan competed in the 5000m final at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio finishing 11th. She is a 12-time US National Champion winning seven indoor and five outdoor titles in middle-distance events. While at Arizona State University she won the 2014 NCAA 1500m championship.
