Jia Zhangke is a renowned Chinese-language film and television director, screenwriter, producer, actor and writer. He is the founder of Pingyao International Film Festival, dean of the Shanxi Film Academy of Shanxi Media College and the dean of the Shanghai Vancouver Film School at Shanghai University. He graduated from the Literature Department of Beijing Film Academy. The Beijing Music Festival (BMF) is an annual music festival held in Beijing which according to the Chinese Ministry of Culture has become one of the most well-known musical events in the world, drawing international attention. According to Chinaculture.org the festival presents about 30 concerts in October every year offering a wide variety of classical and jazz music including opera, orchestral, chamber, solo, and choral concerts. BMF also gives prominence to music education and community engagement offering free children's concerts and students' concerts, as well as master classes which draw about 6,000 music students, teachers, and spectators. Pema Tseden, also called Wanma Caidan was a Chinese Tibetan film director and screenwriter. He was a professor at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou and a member of the Film Directors Guild of China, China Film Association, and Chinese Film Literature Association. He is known for making many films entirely in Tibetan language and presenting a more realistic depiction of Tibetan life as opposed to the exoticism often associated with the region.

The 12th Beijing College Student Film Festival took place in Beijing, China in May 2005. Kekexili: Mountain Patrol was the biggest winner, receiving two awards, including Best Director and Grand Prix Award. Xia Yu won Best Actor for his performance in Waiting Alone, and Zhang Jingchu for her role in Huayao Bride In Shangri-la. Golden Rooster-winner Lu Chuan's Kekexili: Mountain Patrol won Best Director Award, and A Story of Dun Zi was declared Best Film Award.

The 24th annual Beijing College Student Film Festival took place in Beijing, China between April 8 and May 7, 2017. This Is Not What I Expected was selected as the festival's opening night film.

Ye Qing is a Chinese actress. She rose to fame after portraying Yu Tan in the television series historical television series Scarlet Heart (2011), which enjoyed the highest ratings in mainland China. Her film breakthrough came in 2014 with her performance as Zhang Yan in the wuxia film Brotherhood of Blades, for which she won the Best Newcomer at the Chinese Australia International Film Festival and was nominated for the Best Newcomer at the 22nd Beijing College Student Film Festival.
