The 27th Separate "Pecherska" Brigade' is a brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with the transport and escort of soldiers and prisoners and the protection of the judicial facilities and Ukrainian territorial integrity. It was established in 2006 and is headquartered in Pechersk, Kyiv.
It was established in 2006 on the basis of a disbanded Separate Convoy Brigade, as the 48th regiment of the Internal Troops of Ukraine tasked mainly with phasing convicts into courts and prisons. [1] [2]
In 2009, the 48th regiment was merged with some other transport units being reformed into a brigade. [3]
In 2014, the regiment became a part of the National Guard of Ukraine. In April 2014, the 1st operational reserve battalion "Major General Serhiy Kulchytskyi" of National Guard of Ukraine, became a part of the brigade. The brigade took part in the Siege of Sloviansk during which on 24 May 2014, separatists launched an armed attack on the checkpoint of the National Guard on the eastern outskirts of Sloviansk, near the intersection of the roads to Krasny Liman and Kramatorsk, the engagement lasted 2 hours involving the use of mortars and grenade launchers in addition to small arms during the engagement a soldier of the brigade (Zinchyk Stanislav Mykhailovych) was killed and some personnel were wounded as well. [4] On 28 August 2014, during the Battle of Debaltseve, the retreating convoy including that of the brigade was ambushed by separatists killing five soldiers (Fedir Valeriyovych Ukharskyi, [5] Andrii Ivanovych Tyshchenko, [6] Mykola Mykolayovych Matvienko, [7] Kurmashev Oleksiy Vasyliovych [8] and Doga Oleg Vyacheslavovych [8] ) of the brigade and wounding 19 more. [lower-alpha 1] [9] On 2 September 2014, it was reformed again into the 27th brigade. The brigade performed combat support operations during the Battle of Mariupol during which on 5 September 2014 separatists attacked a column of Ukrainian forces arriving to Mariupol, near Boikivske, a soldier of the brigade (Oleksandr Ivanovych Zvinnyk) was killed in the attack [10] and another soldier (Eremenko Viktor Viktorovych) who was severely wounded died soon after on 11 September. [11] On 1 October 2014, in Debaltseve a soldier of the Brigade (Kononovych Ivan Mykolayovych) got himself into a landmine explosion killing him and wounding two other soldiers. [12]
On 5 January 2015, a bus of the brigade suffered an accident while travelling from Sloviansk to Bakhmut. 13 soldiers of the brigade (Skrut Rostyslav Stefanovych, [13] Maxim Yuriyovych Shchipov, [14] Panteleimon Petrovych Rozhanskyi, [15] Didach Ihor Yosypovych, [16] Roman Mykhailovych Sokach [17] Volodymyr Anatoliyovych Matkivskyi, [18] Malyuta Roman Volodymyrovych, [19] Linyvenko Yury Volodymyrovych, [20] Ihor Valentynovych Kaplunenko, [21] Roman Valentinovych Zubchuk, [22] Burka Victor Pavlovich, [23] Gerasimyuk Taras Pavlovich [24] and Serhiy Ihorovych Babichev [25] ) and further wounding 21 personnel. On 9 January 2015, while performing a combat mission near the Siverskyi Donets River, a battalion of the brigade was ambushed, in the ensuing two-hour battle, the attack was repulsed by backup from the other units of the National Guard and Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the battle a soldier of the brigade (Roman Ivanovych Lagno) [26] was killed and 14 more were wounded. [27] Then, in January 2015, the brigade received new tasks to prevent the crossing of the Transnistrian portion of the Moldovan border to prevent infiltration by sabotage and reconnaissance groups and "illegal" separatist formations. On 23 August 2015, the brigade was presented with a Combat Flag.
In order to protect the bodies and institutions of the Ukrainian judicial system and implement the authorized access systems for them, at the end of 2017, the 4th rifle battalion was created to safeguard 35 judicial facilities in the city of Kyiv. The 1st operational reserve battalion "Major General Serhiy Kulchytskyi" was transferred to the 1st Presidential Operational Brigade.
In 2019, the 22nd separate battalion was established in Chernihiv on the basis of the 3rd battalion of the brigade. [28]
On 23 August 2020, the 27th Brigade received the honorary name of "Pecherska". [29]
During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the brigade saw combat during the Battle of Kyiv where a soldier of the brigade (Oleksandr Vasyliovych Bybyk) was killed on 18 March 2022. [30] [31] Then it was deployed to Luhansk Oblast to take part in the Eastern Ukraine campaign. [32]

The brigade has around 250 personnel, of which 120 are for the protect of judicial facilities, 56 are counterterrorism and counterinsurgent, 40 are special propose, and 11 are extradition guards and 15 transportation guards. [33] [34]

The 12th Brigade of Operational Assignment was a military formation of the National Guard of Ukraine. It was part of the Eastern operational territorial association. It was based in Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast.
The 96th Anti-aircraft Missile Brigade "Kyivska" is a brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force tasked with air defense operations throughout Kyiv Oblast and Chernobyl NPP. It operates S-300PS and Patriot missile defense systems. It is headquartered at Danylivka in Kyiv Oblast.
The 164th Radio Technical Brigade "Slobidska" is a Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force concerned with radar operations in Kharkiv Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia Oblast, an area of about 200 thousand square kilometers and a population of eighteen million. It is subordinated to the Air Command East. It is headquartered in Kharkiv.
The 3rd Operational Assignment Spartan Brigade "Petro Bolbochan" is a brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. It is a part of the Ukrainian Offensive Guard and was established in 2014 in Kharkiv. It has taken part in multiple engagements throughout the Russo-Ukrainian war and is currently deployed on the frontlines.

The 19th Public Order Mykolaiv Regiment is a regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with law enforcement tasks and the defense of Ukrainian territorial integrity. The 21st Separate Public Order Protection Brigade is a law enforcement brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with protection of the law and order as well as the territorial integrity of Ukraine. It was established in 1992 on the basis of the 25th Separate Special Motorized Militia Battalion as the 6th Regiment. The brigade's main headquarters is in Kryvyi Rih but some parts of it are garrisoned at Kropyvnytskyi.
The 23rd Public Order Protection Brigade "Khortytsia" is a Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with protection of the public order and the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The 31st Public Order Protection Brigade "Major General Oleksandr Radievskyi" is a Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with protection of the public order and the territorial integrity of Ukraine. It was established on January 2, 1992, as the 5th NG Regiment on the basis of the 24th Separate Special Motorized Militia Battalion. It has seen combat during the War in Donbass and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It's headquartered in Dnipro.
The 2nd Separate Mixed Galician Brigade is a brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine concerned with multiple roles including the extraction of Ukrainian personnel from the frontlines, logistical and combat support, maintenance of the public law and order, among other roles. It was established on the basis of the 16th Convoy Brigade in February 1992 as the 2nd Convoy Brigade. The 40th Separate "Danylo Nechai" Regiment is a regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with safeguarding prisons, mental asylums, medical facilities, escorting arrested and convicted persons, guarding defendants during court proceedings, providing assistance to the police in maintaining public order and protection of Ukrainian territorial integrity. It was established as the 8th Separate Brigade on the basis of the 481st Convoy Regiment in 1993. It is headquartered in Vinnytsia.
The 13th Separate National Guard Battalion is a battalion of the 40th Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with the protection of Ukrainian territorial integrity, maintenance of public order and escorting convicts during court proceedings. It's garrisons are located in Khmelnytskyi and Kamianets-Podilskyi.
The 15th Separate National Guard Battalion is a battalion of the 2nd Galician Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with transport and escort of convicts and prisoners as well as the protection of public law and order and the Ukrainian territorial integrity. It was established in 1995 in Crimea but after the capture of its headquarters it was abolished and was reestablished in 2018 in Rivne.
The 32nd Volyn Battalion is a battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with various duties including the protection of Public Order, Ukrainian territorial integrity and foreign diplomatic missions. It was established in 1994 and is currently headquartered in Volyn.
The 75th Zhytomyr Battalion is a battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with transport, escort, protection of public order and Ukrainian territorial integrity. It was established in 1992 and is garrisoned in Zhytomyr. It's units are stationed in Zhytomyr, Berdychiv, Korosten and Demchyn.
The 1st Operational Battalion named after the Hero of Ukraine Serhii Kulchytskyi is a volunteer Battalion of the 1st Presidential Brigade, a part of the Offensive Guard of the National Guard of Ukraine. It is an all volunteer Battalion with it's personnel being the former members of Maidan Defense and other paramilitary groups established by the Ukrainian opposition during the Revolution of Dignity. It was established in 2014 and is garrisoned at Novi Petrivtsi. It's a highly combat effective formation and has seen heavy combat during both the War in Donbass and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
