28 de Julio (Veintiocho de Julio, also called simply Veintiocho) is a village and municipality in Gaiman Department, Chubut Province in southern Argentina, and is west of the lower Chubut River. [2] To its east is Dolavon, to its north is National Route 25, to its south is a boundary, and to its west is Boca Toma. The economy in the village is primarily agricultural.

Esquel is a town in the northwest of Chubut Province in Argentine Patagonia. It is located in Futaleufú Department, of which it is the government seat. The town's name derives from one of two Tehuelche words: one meaning "marsh" and the other meaning "land of burrs", which refers to the many thorny plants including the pimpinella, and the other meaning herbaceous plants whose fruits, when ripe, turn into prickly burrs that stick to the animals' skins and wool or people's clothes as a way of propagation.

Dolavon is a small town in the Patagonian province of Chubut, Argentina. It had a population of 2,929 according to the 2001 census [INDEC]. It is located close to the Chubut River, about 19 km (12 mi) to the west of Gaiman. The name comes from Welsh dôl (meadow) and afon (river). Welsh immigrants began to settle in the area after their arrival in Patagonia in 1865. The Central Chubut Railway arrived in 1915, linking the settlement to Trelew, and the town was officially founded in 1919. Dolavon became a centre of wheat production using irrigation canals to compensate for the arid climate. The old flour mill with its water wheel is now a museum.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tehuelche people</span> Ethnic group

The Tehuelche people, also called the Aónikenk, are an indigenous people from eastern Patagonia in South America. In the 18th and 19th centuries the Tehuelche were influenced by Mapuche people, and many adopted a horseriding lifestyle. Once a nomadic people, the lands of the Tehuelche were colonized in the 19th century by Argentina and Chile, gradually disrupting their traditional economies. The establishment of large sheep farming estates in Patagonia was particularly detrimental to the Tehuelche. Contact with outsiders also brought in infectious diseases ushering deadly epidemics among Tehuelche tribes. Most existing members of the group currently reside in cities and towns of Argentine Patagonia.

Las Plumas is a village in Chubut Province, Argentina. Located in the valle de los Mártires, it is the head town of the Mártires Department. It was established in 1921, and from 1928 to 1961 the main station of the Central Chubut Railway, Estación Alto de Las Plumas, was in use in the village.

Alto Río Senguer, or Alto Río Senguerr, is a town in Chubut Province, Argentina located along the northern bank of the Senguerr River. It is the head town of the Río Senguer Department, and was formally founded on September 1, 1943. However, the first permanent dwelling on the site was built around 1915 by a German-born settler, for whom the village used to be named Schultz Pass.
