The 2nd Moscow Jewish Film Festival is an annual international film festival, which aims to gather in the program features, documentaries, shorts and animated films on the subject of Jewish culture, history and national identity and contemporary problems. The festival was held in Moscow from 14 to 21 June 2016, [1] at the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center, the Documentary film center, cinema GUM [2] and KARO 11 cinema Oktyabr. [3] [4]

Opening film

Opening film of the festival was the directorial debut Natalie Portman A Tale of Love and Darkness . [5] The opening ceremony was held in cinema Oktyabr which gathered about 1,600 spectators. [6]

Education

In addition to film screenings educational program was organized in the framework of the festival, consisting of lectures, discussions and debates. The speakers were: director and screenwriter Oleg Dorman, creators The Dybbuk. A Tale of Wandering Souls - Krzysztof Kopczyński and Uri Gershovich, [22] musicologist Layla Kandaurova, [23] theologian and historian Yuri Tabak, film critic Valery Davydov, Alexander Bartosiewicz, Alexander Mitta, Lyudmila Ulitskaya, director Mariya Kravchenko, as well as the lead actor in the movie "Son of Saul" Géza Röhrig. Gravitation: Variation in Time and Space is a 2015 black & white art film, written and produced by Rem Hass and directed by Andrei Severny. Gravitation is a synergy of dance, cinema and abstract art and stars Diana Vishneva, principal dancer of the Mariinsky Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre. The movements were choreographed by Mauro Bigonzetti specifically for the film. The work was shot entirely in slow motion with Phantom Flex4K cameras in 500-1,000 frames-per-second. <i>Violin</i> (2017 film) 2017 Russian film

Violin is the final novel of the film trilogy "Witnesses". The film opens at the beginning of the 20th century in a violin shop, where an instrument was created as a present for a Jewish boy. Later that violin became a witness to the tragic events that took place during the Holocaust. When the instrument turned a hundred years old, its journey ended a concert at the Wailing Wall.

<i>V2. Escape from Hell</i> Russian upcoming drama film

V2. Escape from Hell is a 2021 Russian prison action thriller war biopic film directed by Timur Bekmambetov. The film stars Thure Riefenstein, Pavel Priluchny, Pavel Chinarev and Daria Zlatopolskaya. Based on a true story, portions of Soviet Mikhail Devyatayev's autobiography form the basis of a World War II film produced by Bazelevs Company. The film is the first large-scale vertical format film featuring dynamic aerial combat. Mikhail Devyatayev enrolled at the Soviet Air Forces to fight in the Great Patriotic War. In July 1944, while on a sortie for the 1st Ukrainian Front, his plane was shot down and he was captured by the Wehrmacht. In the most difficult conditions, Devyatayev managed to develop and implement an escape plan from Hitler's heavily guarded Usedom prison, which used prisoners to build the V-2 rocket. The film had a wide release on 29 April 2021.
