2013 (MMXIII) was the year of the 400th Anniversary of the founding of the House of Romanov , Russia's Imperial dynasty. At the date of this anniversary, a number of events were organized on the occasion in Russia and Ukraine marking a grand jubilee [1] in their history. The celebration marks the accession of Mikhail Fyodorovich Romanov (Russian : Михаи́л Фёдорович Рома́нов) to the Russian throne on 11 (21) June 1613 beginning a new ruling dynasty of the Romanovs. The rule of dynasty ended with the abdication of Nicholas II in March 1917. The medal is awarded in three classes: gold, silver and bronze.
Among the celebrations organized around the world, the Romanov Celebration Gala took place in Paris on 5 October 2013 at the Chateau of Chantilly. The event was hosted by Maria Vladimirovna of Russia, Head of the House of Romanov and was presided by her son and heir Grand Duke George Mikhailovich; held with the participation of some Romanov descendants, foreign Royalty and nobility, international business and cultural elite at one of France's most historical venues with the finest second collection of paintings after the Louvre Museum. The chateau hosted three official Imperial visits of the Russian Emperors.
On the occasion France, which has a long tradition and respect in the Russian history and culture welcomed the guests coming from the fields of business, media, diplomacy, art and sports from Europe, Ukraine and Russia to spend the exclusive weekend in Paris and live the get-together time paying a tribute to the Romanov and sharing the emotions of the celebration with luxury leading names and VIP celebrities. Deriving from the Russian imperial traditions of splendid balls, masquerades and other entertainment for aristocrats, the event supported images of Russia and Ukraine on the international arena as the countries which take care of their heritage and therefore, future of their nations.

The House of Romanov was the reigning imperial house of Russia from 1613 to 1917. They achieved prominence after Anastasia Romanovna married Ivan the Terrible, the first crowned tsar of all Russia. Nicholas II, the last Emperor of Russia, and his immediate family were executed in 1918, but there are still living descendants of other members of the imperial house.

Grand Duke Vladimir Kirillovich of Russia was the Head of the Imperial Family of Russia, a position which he claimed from 1938 to his death in 1992.
Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia has been a claimant to the headship of the House of Romanov, the Imperial Family of Russia since 1992. She is a great-great-granddaughter in the male line of Emperor Alexander II of Russia. Although she has used Grand Duchess of Russia as her title of pretence with the style Imperial Highness throughout her life, her right to do so is disputed. Since her father's death on April 21, 1992, some of her monarchist supporters have referred to her as Maria I, titular "Empress of Russia", a title she does not claim herself.
Grand Duke George Mikhailovich of Russia is the heir apparent to Maria Vladimirovna, a claimant to the disputed Headship of the Imperial Family of Russia. He is the only child of Maria and her former husband, Prince Franz Wilhelm of Prussia. George's mother attributes to him the title of Tsesarevich and he bears the prefix of "Grand Duke" with the style of Imperial Highness which is still being questioned. As the son of a cadet member of the branch of the House of Hohenzollern which formerly ruled the German Empire and Kingdom of Prussia, he is also sometimes entitled "Prince of Prussia" with the style of Royal Highness.
Nicholas Romanovich Romanov was a claimant to the headship of the House of Romanov and president of the Romanov Family Association. Although undoubtedly a descendant of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia, his claimed titles and official membership in the former Imperial House were disputed by those who maintained that his parents' marriage violated the laws of the Russian Empire.
Grand Duchess Leonida Georgievna Romanova of Russia was the consort of Vladimir Kirillovich, Grand Duke of Russia, a pretender to the Russian throne. She was advanced by Vladimir and their daughter, Maria Vladimirovna, to be accepted as the legitimate Heads of the Romanov dynasty and de jure sovereigns of the Russian Empire.
Princess Tatiana Constantinovna of Russia was the third child and eldest daughter of Grand Duke Constantine Constantinovich of Russia and his wife, Princess Elisabeth of Saxe-Altenburg.
