The 41st Moscow International Film Festival was held from 18 April to 25 April 2019. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
Russian film director Nikita Mikhalkov was the president of the festival. South Korean film director Kim Ki-Duk was head of the main jury. The Emperor of Paris was the opening film and Meeting Gorbachev was the closing film. The opening ceremony took place at the Rossiya theatre, hosted by actress Elizaveta Boyarskaya. The closing ceremony took place at the Rossiya cinema, hosted by actress Marina Alexandrova. The Golden Saint George for best picture was awarded to the Kazakh film The Secret of a Leader directed by Farkhat Sharipov.

The Moscow International Film Festival is a film festival first held in Moscow in 1935 and became regular since 1959. From its inception to 1959, it was held every second year in July, alternating with the Karlovy Vary festival. The festival has been held annually since 1999. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIAPF paused the accreditation of the festival until further notice.
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is a Bangladeshi film director, producer and screenwriter who works in Bengali films. His films Third Person Singular Number, Television, No Bed Of Roses were critically acclaimed across the world and received numerous international and national awards.
The 18th Moscow International Film Festival was held from 1 to 12 July 1993. The Golden St. George was awarded to the French-Belarusian film Me Ivan, You Abraham directed by Yolande Zauberman.

No Bed of Roses is a 2017 Bangladeshi-Indian drama film written and directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. It was produced by Abdul Aziz, Himanshu Dhanuka and Irrfan Khan under the banner of Jaaz Multimedia and Eskay Movies along with Irrfan Khan Films. It stars Irrfan Khan, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Rokeya Prachy and Parno Mittra. The story builds up around the members of two families discovering the finer fabric of love when the headman of a family dies. The theme is that death does not always take things away: Sometimes it gives back. The film was selected as the Bangladeshi entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
Shonibar Bikel is a 2019 Bangladeshi-German-Russian co-production film directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, a one shot political thriller, inspired from the July 2016 Dhaka attack. The film had its world premiere at the 2019 Moscow International Film Festival. The film was cleared for release in Bangladesh by Bangladesh Film Censor Board after 4 years.
