The 46th Operations Group was a component of the United States Air Force 46th Test Wing assigned to Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. It was inactivated on 1 October 2012, and its functions consolidated under the 96th Test Wing at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida

The 46 OG was the flying component of the 46th Test Wing. It designed and executed flight and ground test and evaluation of USAF conventional munitions and electronic countermeasures. The 40th Test Squadron flew a mixture of F-15, F-16, NC-130 and A-10 Aircraft.

Its World War II predecessor unit, the 46th Bombardment Operational Training Wing was a command and control organization for replacement training units (RTU) that trained personnel on B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, and B-29 Superfortress bombers. Its group's graduates were then assigned to combat units in overseas theaters worldwide as replacement personnel.

96th Test Wing Military unit

The 96th Test Wing is a United States Air Force unit assigned to the Air Force Test Center of Air Force Materiel Command at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The wing was activated at Eglin in 1994 as the 96th Air Base Wing, the headquarters for all support units on Eglin, the largest installation in the Air Force. In 2012, it absorbed the mission and resources of the 46th Test Wing and added the mission of testing and evaluating weapons, navigation and guidance systems and command and control systems.

54th Airlift Squadron Military unit

The 54th Airlift Squadron is a United States Air Force squadron stationed at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. The squadron is an active duty associate unit aiding the 932d Airlift Wing in performance of its airlift mission. The first predecessor of the squadron was formed in August 1917 as the 54th Aero Squadron and served in France during World War II. In 1936, this unit was consolidated with the 54th School Squadron, a pilot training unit that became the 54th Bombardment Squadron, which became a demonstration unit for the Air Corps Tactical School, and later a test and evaluation unit for medium bomber aircraft and tactics.
