The 48th Aviation Division was an air division of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force active from 1971-92.
Approved by the Central Military Commission on August 4, 1970, the formation began in accordance with the notice of the Air Force Command and the Political Department on January 13, 1971. On April 1, 1971, [1] the 48th Aviation Division was formally established in Leiyang, Hunan. The 142nd Regiment (adapted from the 30th Regiment of the 10th Air Division), the 143rd Regiment (reorganised from the 59th Regiment of the original 20th Aviation Division) is equipped with H-5 aircraft, commander Gao Yun, political commissar Zou Benhai. It belonged to the 12th Air Force Corps.
The 48th Air Division successively participated in the "Guangzi No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6" exercises, the Sino-Vietnamese War, anti-flood activities, artificial rainfall, aerial seeding afforestation, aerial survey and other tasks, actively supporting the country's socialist construction.
From January 19 to 22, 1974, the Guangzhou Military Region Air Force organized the 48th Air Division and the 5th Reconnaissance Regiment, dispatched aircraft, and participated in the military and naval missions during the Battle of the Paracel Islands against South Vietnam. Aircraft conducted aerial photo reconnaissance and theater patrols. The construction began on May 29, and they returned to their original locations on June 7.
In January 1976, after the 12th Air Force Corps was inactivated, the 48th Aviation Division was placed directly under the Guangzhou Military Region Air Force. The 5th Reconnaissance Regiment and the 142nd Regiment were disbanded after the reorganisation of September 1985. In September 1992 orders were issued to abolish the 48th Aviation Division and the 144th Regiment. The 143rd Regiment became an independent regiment after the division was disbanded. [2]

It includes some of the area previously within the Kunming Military Region and has its headquarters in Chengdu. It was probably established in 1955.
The Beijing Military Region was one of seven military regions for the Chinese People's Liberation Army. From the mid 1980s to 2017, it had administration of all military affairs within Beijing city, Tianjin city, Hebei province, Shanxi province, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The Region is mainly responsible for defending the People's Republic of China from Mongolia and Russia, and also protects the capital of China, and had the largest number of military personnel of any of the seven regions active from 1985-2017. The Region has now been disbanded and superseded by the Central Theater Command and Northern Theater Command.
The Guangzhou Military Region was from 1955 to 2016 one of the People's Liberation Army PLA Military Regions, located in the south of the People's Republic of China. In May 1949, the Central China Military Region (MR) was formed. In March 1955, it was divided into two, the Guangzhou MR and the Wuhan Military Region. When the Wuhan MR was disbanded in August 1985, its troops stationed around the Hubei province were assigned to the Guangzhou MR.
The Jinan Military Region was a PLA Military Region located in the east of the People's Republic of China, covering the Shandong and Henan Provinces, which also formed military districts. It appears that Yang Dezhi was one of the first commander of the Jinan MR, from 1958. It was considered a strategic reserve. It includes some of the area previously within the Wuhan Military Region, disbanded in 1985–88.
The Lanzhou Military Region was one of seven military regions in the People's Republic of China. It directed all People's Liberation Army and People's Armed Police forces in Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, and Ngari Prefecture in northwest Tibet. It was headquartered in Lanzhou in Gansu Province. It is bordered to the south by the Chengdu Military Region, and to the north by Mongolia, the Altai Republic, which is a political subdivision of the Russian Federation, and Kazakhstan. This region is now part of the Western Theater Command due to the military reforms of 2015.
Long-Range Aviation is a branch of the Russian Aerospace Forces responsible for delivering long-range nuclear or conventional strikes by aircraft rather than missiles. The branch was previously part of the Soviet Air Forces and Russian Air Force tasked with long-range bombardment of strategic targets with nuclear weapons. During the Cold War, it was the counterpart to the Strategic Air Command of the United States Air Force.

The unit is equipped with J-7 fighters and Q-5 ground attack aircraft. PLA-AF fighter divisions generally consist of about 17,000 personnel and 70-120 aircraft.
The Eastern Theater Command is one of the five theater commands of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), founded 1 February 2016. It replaced the Nanjing Military Region. The command is headquartered in Nanjing.

The People's Liberation Army Air Force Airborne Corps is an airborne corps under direct command of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). It was reorganized and renamed from the 15th Airborne Corps in May 2017 and now comprises six airborne brigades and a special operations brigade. The PLAAF Airborne Corps is China's primary strategic airborne unit and part of the newly formed rapid reaction units (RRUs) of the Chinese military which is primarily designated for airborne and special operation missions. Its role is similar to that of the U.S. Army's XVIII Airborne Corps/82nd Airborne Division/101st Airborne Division and Russian Airborne Forces.
The 5th Air Army was an air army of the Soviet Air Forces and later the Ukrainian Air Force. First formed in 1942 during World War II, the army provided air support to Soviet forces through the rest of the war, and was renumbered as the 48th Air Army in 1949. It was stationed in the Odessa Military District during the postwar period, and in 1968 its original number was restored. Between 1980 and 1988 it was known as the Air Forces of the Odessa Military District. Redesignated as the 5th Air Army again in 1988, it became part of the Ukrainian Air Force after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and was converted into an aviation corps in 1994.
The 4th Aviation Division is a formation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). Initially established in 1950, it served in Korea under Commander Fang Ziyi and Commissar Ye Songsheng, flying Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15s. It ended its third combat tour in July 1953. It was soon redesignated the 1st Fighter Division.

Today, the 8th Air Division is assigned to the Southern Theater Command and operates Xian H-6 bombers. The 8th Air Division, the first and longest-serving bomber unit in the PRC, has been deployed in the 1950–1953 Korean War, 1958 Second Taiwan Strait Crisis, 1959 Tibetan uprising, and today conducts deterrence patrols in the South China Sea.
The 10th Air Division or 10th Bomber Division of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) is an air formation of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The 10th Air Division has been accorded the honorary titles of "Model Bomber Group" (模范轰炸机大队) and "Red Banner Division" (红旗师) and is the PLAAF's unit of choice to send to international skills competitions.
