The 4th Commando Brigade is one of the 12 infantry brigades in Turkish Land Forces. It's under the 8th Corps and is headquartered at Tunceli. [1] [2] It was involved in Operation Olive Branch (2018) in Syria and fought in Operation Claw (2019) with the Gendarmerie Special Operations in Iraq. [3] [4] [5]

The Special Forces Command is a division of the Turkish Armed Forces, initially established as a brigade in 14 April 1992, operating directly under the Turkish General Staff. According to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) dress code, the OKK, also known as the Bordo Bereliler, are noteworthy for their distinctive maroon berets. The Turkish Revenge Brigade, also referred as the Turkish Vengeance Brigade, is a militant Turkish nationalist organisation that has used violence against those they perceive as insulting Turkey. In the political violence of the 1970s, TİT gained notoriety during political clashes and is believed to be responsible for over 1,000 deaths during this period. After the military coup of 1980, most of its members were arrested. They were later released and assisted Turkish military intelligence in operations during the Kurdish-Turkish conflict.

The Underwater Offence, or SAT, is the special operations forces unit of the Turkish Navy, and the first and only navy commando unit of the navy, consisting of highly skilled soldiers selected from among the officers and petty officers of the Turkish Navy. They are affiliated with the Naval Operation Directorate. During wartime, these units are responsible for carrying out stealthy attacks, sabotage, and raids on enemy strategic facilities including those located under water, over water, on land, or in the air. They also target floating platforms. The SAT participates in coastal reconnaissance tasked with obtaining information on coastal areas before deploying forces and maintaining control over foreign ports and underwater areas.

Foça Naval Base is a base of the Turkish Navy on the eastern coast of Aegean Sea, 4.2 km (2.6 mi) south by south-east of Foça in İzmir Province. The base is home to the Marines for amphibious operations.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hakkari Mountain and Commando Brigade</span> Military unit

The 5th Commando Brigade, more commonly known as the Hakkari Mountain and Commando Brigade, stationed in Hakkâri Province in southeastern Turkey, founded as a battalion of the 1st Commando Brigade. Because of the ongoing Kurdish-Turkish conflict, the formation enlarged from the size of a battalion to a brigade.

The Gendarmerie Special Operations or JÖH, is the special operations unit of the Turkish Gendarmerie General Command. Its tasks include search and destroy, infiltration, and reconnaissance. Members of the unit receive extensive training at the Jandarma School at Foça and also from selected Turkish Armed Forces instructors. All three of its companies work under the direction of the army regions to which they are assigned, but can also receive tasking from their headquarters in Ankara. It was established in 1991, at the height of the Turkish-Kurdish conflict. It has recently been involved in the Turkish occupation of northern Syria. Unit members are in the 16-week training rooms at the Gendarmerie Commando Terrorist Operations School Command in Foça. All kinds of light weapons, mortar use, rocket launcher training, maneuvering training under fire, destroying target, target mountaineering, using GPS, finding directions over long distances, camouflage, being able to withstand fatigue and insomnia, making the right decision under stress, adapts to different climate and land needs, fight against terrorism in a residential area, explosive recognition, destruction, helicopter evacuation, contact helicopter and helicopter steering, transition through the water, basic diving, melee combat. The gendarmerie commando basic course lasts 26 weeks. Information on combat maps, weapons and shootings, explosives and traps are given combat training. It is organized in Ankara, İzmir and Kayseri with land and sea phases. The course lasts 6 months. Gendarmerie officers and non-commissioned officers who have received basic gendarmerie commando training can attend the course. Combat training in severe cold in Kayseri or Bolu Basic diving in Ankara In İzmir Foça, the helicopter jump boat operator receives training such as close combat, forestry, residential operation, frogman, special operations and Paratrooper.

The Amphibious Marine Brigade, also known as Amphibious Commando, is the marine corps special operations capable unit of the Turkish Naval Forces based in Foça near İzmir, three amphibious battalions, an MBT battalion, an artillery battalion, a support battalion and other company-sized units.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2016 Kayseri bombing</span>

On December 17, 2016, a suspected car bombing in Kayseri, Turkey killed 15 soldiers aboard a bus and wounded at least 55 others. According to the Daily Sabah newspaper, the soldiers — all low-ranking privates and non-commissioned officers — had been given permission for leave from the commando headquarters in the city. The explosion comes a week after 44 people were killed in a double bombing in Istanbul after a football match.
