551 Rocket Regiment is part of the Regiment of Artillery of the Indian Army.
The regiment was raised at Ranchi on 28 September 1963 with Ahir troops. The unit became the first unit in the Indian Army to be converted to a Smerch weapon system unit on 9 July 2007 under the command of Colonel Rajesh Srivastava.

The Poona Horse is an armoured regiment in the Armoured Corps of the Indian Army. The regiment, known before independence as The Poona Horse, was raised as a regular cavalry regiment in the Bombay Presidency army of the East India Company. It was formed from the 3rd Regiment of Bombay Light Cavalry, raised in 1820, and the Poona Auxiliary Horse, raised about 1817–18. The latter unit was absorbed into the regular forces about 1860 and the two regiments later became the 33rd Queen Victoria's Own Light Cavalry and the 34th Prince Albert Victor's Own Poona Horse.

The 5th (Mhow) Division was a regular division of the British Indian Army and part of the Southern Army which was formed in 1903 after Lord Kitchener was appointed Commander-in-Chief, India between 1902 and 1909. Lieutenant General Sartaj Singh GM was a senior officer in the Indian Army. He was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery of the British Indian Army in 1940, and served as an anti-tank gunner in Ceylon. After completing training to serve as a gunnery staff instructor in the UK in 1947, he served as the first Indian instructor at the School of Artillery in Deolali. He served on a United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Congo, and commanded a division in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. He served as the GOC, XV Corps on the western front during the Indo Pakistan War of 1971. He was then awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1972 for his outstanding services to the nation. At the time of his retirement in 1974 he was General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, with the rank of lieutenant general.
