Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) is the public service broadcasting organisation of Portugal. It operates four national television channels and three national radio stations, as well as several satellite and cable offerings.

It too, is the most-watched channel in Portugal from 1995 to 2005, and again from 2019 to today.
Hermann José von KrippahlComM, known as Herman José, is a Portuguese-born German comedian, television host, actor and musician. He is best known for his numerous TV shows and comedy sketches. Starting his career in the mid-1970s, Hermann José has become one of Portugal's most recognized comedians and TV personalities, featuring in some of his shows, among others, Amália Rodrigues, Kylie Minogue, Ramalho Eanes, Tony Bennett, Roger Moore, Cher and Joan Collins. He also opened for Frank Sinatra's first and only concert in Portugal.

It is available in the Portuguese-speaking African countries, where it is available as a basic cable and satellite channel, with the exception of Cabo Verde, where it is available as a free-to-air channel, distributed by the country's digital terrestrial television network. RTP África is also available for free on RTP's platform RTP Play.

The competition took place on 9 March 2008 where the winner was selected exclusively by public televoting. "Senhora do mar " performed by Vânia Fernandes emerged as the winner with 17,650 votes.
Television in Portugal was introduced in 1956 by Radiotelevisão Portuguesa, which held the nationwide television monopoly until late 1992. Regular broadcasting was introduced on March 7, 1957. Colour transmissions were introduced on March 10, 1980.

The competition took place on 5 March 2011 where "A luta é alegria" performed by Homens da Luta emerged as the winner after achieving the highest score following the combination of votes from twenty regional juries and a public televote.
The Voice Portugal is a Portuguese reality singing competition and local version of The Voice, based on the original The Voice of Holland. The series employs a panel of four coaches who critique the artists' performances, and guide their teams of selected artists through the remainder of the season. They also compete to ensure that their act wins the competition, thus making them the winning coach. The original coaching panel consisted of Rui Reininho, Paulo Gonzo, Mia Rose, and the duo Os Anjos. The upcoming coaching panel, for season 11, will feature Sara Correia, Fernando Daniel, Sónia Tavares, and António Zambujo. In other seasons Mickael Carreira, Marisa Liz, Anselmo Ralph, Aurea, Diogo Piçarra, Carolina Deslandes and Dino D'Santiago participated as coaches.

RTP organised the national final Festival da Canção 2014 in order to select the Portuguese entry for the 2014 contest in Copenhagen, Denmark. After a semi-final and a final which took place in March 2014, "Quero ser tua" performed by Suzy emerged as the winner after gaining 41.56% of the public televote.
Bem-Vindos a Beirais is a Portuguese television series broadcast by RTP. It has three seasons, with a fourth scheduled to air. The first season had 100 episodes and started airing on 13 May 2013 on RTP1. The second season premiered on 4 November 2013 and had 80 episodes. The third season premiered on 25 February 2014.
