The 6th Rivers State House of Assembly was formed after the 2007 general elections. The Assembly sat from 30 May 2007 until 30 May 2011. Representatives of the Assembly were elected from 32 constituencies with members of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party in the majority. The Speaker of the Assembly was Tonye Harry while the Clerk of the House was Alex Nwala. [1]

Robert "Doc" Newell, was an American politician and fur trapper in the Oregon Country. He was a frontier doctor in what would become the U.S. state of Oregon. Rotimi Amaechi Nigerian politician

Rivers State House of Assembly

Rivers State House of Assembly is the legislative branch of the Government of Rivers State inaugurated in 1979. It is a unicameral body with 32 members elected into 32 state constituencies. The current Speaker of the State Assembly is Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi O. Ibani.

Harry R. Houston

Ikuinyi Owaji Ibani is a Nigerian politician and Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. From 2007 to 2011, he served as MHA representing the constituency of Andoni, and from 2011 to 2015, was the Chief Whip of the House. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party. In the 8th Assembly election, he defeated his All Progressives Congress rival by over 50,000 votes.

Elections in Rivers State are supervised and conducted by two major electoral bodies, Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). There are 23 local government areas, 319 electoral wards and 4442 polling units in the state. Elections for Governor and the House of Assembly are held every four years, along with federal elections for President and the National Assembly.

The 4th Rivers State House of Assembly was in session from 29 May 1999 until 29 May 2003. All members of the House were elected on 9 January 1999. The majority party was the Rivers State People's Democratic Party led by Marshal Harry. The presiding officer (Speaker) of the Assembly was Chibuike Amaechi.
