The 7th Rivers State House of Assembly was formed after the 2011 parliamentary election. The Assembly sat from 30 May 2011 until 31 May 2015. Representatives of the Assembly were elected from 32 constituencies with members of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party in the majority. The Speaker of the Assembly was Otelemaba Amachree while the Clerk of the House was Emmanuel Amaewhule Ogele. [1]

In July 2014, members loyal to Governor Chibuike Amaechi numbering 25, announced their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). [2]

The Politics of Rivers State function within the framework of a presidential republic, with the Governor of Rivers State as both head of state and head of government. Under the Constitution, Executive power is vested in the Governor and he or she exercises them directly. The following is a timeline of the governorship of Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, also known as the Wike administration, from his inauguration as Governor of Rivers State on 29 May 2015 to present.

The 6th Rivers State House of Assembly was formed after the 2007 general elections. The Assembly sat from 30 May 2007 until 30 May 2011. Representatives of the Assembly were elected from 32 constituencies with members of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party in the majority. The Speaker of the Assembly was Tonye Harry while the Clerk of the House was Alex Nwala.

Marshall Stanley Uwom, is a political figure and lawyer from Rivers State, Nigeria. He is a prince of the Agba Royal family of Abua Kingdom in Abua–Odual local government area. He is a member of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party. Uwom held various cabinet-level positions in the past, particularly as Commissioner of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and Commissioner of the Ministry of Agriculture. In 2015, he was elected to the Rivers State House of Assembly where he serves as Deputy Speaker.

Benibo Frederick Anabraba is a politician in Rivers State, Nigeria. He is the Member of the Rivers State House of Assembly for Akuku-Toru II and current Minority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly. He was first elected to the House of Assembly in the 2011 general election as a member of the People's Democratic Party. He later switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress in an act of loyalty to Governor Chibuike Amaechi.

Kelechi Nwogu

Kelechi Nwogu is a Nigerian politician, a state legislator and member of the 7th, 8th and 9th Rivers State House of Assembly, representing Omuma State Constituency. Kelechi is a member of the People’s Democratic Party.

General elections will be held in Nigeria on 23 February 2023 to elect the President, Vice President, House of Representatives and Senate. The winners of the election will be inaugurated on 29 May 2023, the former date of Democracy Day.
