Joanne Tang Yu-chi (born November 20, 1990), better known by her stage name 9m88, is a Taiwanese singer, songwriter, and actress.

Biography

9m88 was born in 1990. She majored in fashion design at Shih Chien University. [1] At age 25, she went to The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. [2] [3] 9m88 released her debut album “Beyond Mediocrity” [4] independently in August 2019. [5] In October 2021, 9m88 performed with the Cloud Gate Dance Theater. [6]

Music style

After arriving in New York as a Jazz voice major, she has broadened her interest in various genres of music, including Jazz, R&B, Pop, and Free Improvisation. [7] Baba is also known for infusing her music with vivid and retro visuals. Her lyrics usually deal with personal bitter-sweet stories [8] on a daily basis. The release of her 7-inch vinyl “Nine Head Hinano”, [9] including a cover of City Pop classic “Plastic Love”, [10] has helped her increase followers over the world.[ citation needed ]

Activism

9m88 recorded a track for the album T-POP: No Fear In Love, a compilation album celebrating the one-year anniversary of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Taiwan, with others including Enno Cheng. [11]

<i>Mallarmes Tuesdays</i> 2022 studio album by Wu Qing-feng

Mallarme's Tuesdays is the third studio album by Taiwanese singer-songwriter Wu Qing-feng. Produced by Qing-Feng Wu and Howe Chen (陳君豪), the album was officially released on September 30, 2022. It collects 12 songs and had domestic and oversea musicians from different fields invited to participate in the production of each song, including singers Stefanie Sun, Lisa Ono, ohashiTrio, Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc and pianist Chun-Chieh Yen. The title of the album is inspired by the Tuesday evening salons hosted by French poet Stéphane Mallarmé. Chen Yu is a Taiwanese actress. After graduating from Chinese Culture University, Chen gained her reputation across various films and television productions from several genres, and made her screen debut with the television series Love of Sandstorm in 2016, and her film career began with the movie Back to the Good Times. She went on to star in several commercially successful series and films, including the series The World Between Us (2019) and the film Do You Love Me As I Love You (2020).

Taiwan New Cinema was a film reform movement initiated by young Taiwanese filmmakers and directors which took place from 1982 to 1987. Fu Peirong is a scholar, writer, educator and philosopher from Taiwan. He uses pen names Fu Hua and Fu Xuan. He was born in Kaohsiung and grew up in Taoyuan, with ancestral roots in Shanghai. He is a retired professor and former director of the Department of Philosophy and the Institute of Philosophy at National Taiwan University. He held positions as a visiting professor at the University of Louvain in Belgium and Leiden University in the Netherlands.
