The A-League Men Goalkeeper of the Year is an annual soccer award presented to the best goalkeeper in the A-League Men. The award is determined by a panel of experts. [1]

Contents

The A-League was founded in 2005 to replace the semi-professional National Soccer League. [2] The number of teams in the league has ranged from eight to twelve and there are currently twelve clubs in the league. [3] The Goalkeeper of the Year award has been given out since the league's inaugural season.

Eugene Galekovic has won the award four times, the most times out of all keepers. Michael Theo is the next-most successful, with three awards.

A-League Men is the highest-level professional men's soccer league in Australia and New Zealand. At the top of the Australian league system, it is the country's premier men's competition for the sport. A-League Men was established in 2004 as the A-League by the Australian Soccer Association (ASA) as a successor to the National Soccer League (NSL) and competition commenced in August 2005. The league is currently administered by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL), contested by thirteen teams; eleven based in Australia and two based in New Zealand.
