A. C. Flora High School is a public high school located in the City of Forest Acres, South Carolina, a suburb of Columbia. The school is one of seven high schools operated by Richland County School District One. The school was founded in 1959 to ease overcrowding and accommodate growth in the Forest Acres area, and the school was named for Abram Cline Flora, an accomplished educator who served as the district's superintendent.
The A.C. Flora boys' golf team has won seven 3A state championships since 2001. Coach Harry Huntley, who holds the Richland Country District record for most state championship wins (eight), has coached 14 golfers who have gone off to play for college.[ citation needed ]
The A.C. Flora baseball team has multiple state championship and Upper State Championship wins in the past 10 years,[ when? ] and won the 2012 South Carolina 3A State Championship. They were ranked top 70 in the nation by MaxPreps at the end of the 2012 season. They won the 2013 International Paper Classic, a tournament held in Georgetown, SC. The A.C. Flora Baseball team has produced college players for the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, University of North Carolina, University of Tennessee, College of Charleston, University of South Carolina at Sumter, and many other schools. The Falcons won the 2014 International Paper Classic for the second year in a row and are currently ranked second nationally by Collegiate Baseball.[ citation needed ]
The A.C. Flora basketball team is coached by Edward Scott since March 2022. [3] Prior to that the head coach was Joshua Staley, cousin of the University of South Carolina Women's basketball head coach Dawn Staley. During the 2012–13 season, they won the Region IV-AAA Championship and made it to the Upper State semifinals. In 2014, the Boys' Varsity team won its fourth State title with a 51-42 OT win against Darlington High School. In the summer of 2014, Leon Brunson stepped down as Head Coach and A.C. Flora hired Staley as head coach. The following season, Staley lead the Falcons to a second straight State Championship appearance, where they would lose to the Midland Valley Mustangs 62–56. In the 2015–2016 season, Staley would lead the Falcons again to its third straight State Championship, where they defeated defending champion Midland Valley 60–50. This would become A.C. Flora's second championship in 3 years and 5th overall for the school. As of February 2015, MaxPreps ranked A.C. Flora 3rd in the State of South Carolina.[ citation needed ]. Legendary coach Carl Williams led A.C. Flora's juggernaut boys' basketball program in the 1980s, producing state champion teams in 1981 and 1986 and a state runner-up finish in 1985.
Under the coaching of Patrick Rybarczyk, the team has received honors at The USC Math Contest, [4] the Furman Wylie Math Tournament, [5] the Carolina Panthers Numbers Crunch, [6] the Clemson Calculus Challenge, [7] the College of Charleston Math Meet, [8] and made up one third of the South Carolina ARML team, which won the Division B team award at Penn State and won the Site award at the UGA site. Dawn Michelle Staley is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team. A point guard, she played college basketball for the Virginia Cavaliers and spent eight seasons in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), primarily with the Charlotte Sting. Staley also played on the United States women's national basketball team, winning three gold medals at the Olympic Games from 1996 to 2004, and was the head coach of the team that won an Olympic gold medal in 2021. She is the first person to win the Naismith Award as both a player and a coach.

The Cougars compete in NCAA Division I and are currently members of the Coastal Athletic Association. The university sponsors 20 varsity sports teams including men and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis; women's-only dance team, equestrian, beach volleyball, softball, track and field and volleyball; men's-only baseball; and co-ed sailing and cheerleading. The university's most successful sports are co-ed sailing, which has won 14 national championships since 1986, women's volleyball, which has qualified for the NCAA Tournament seven times since 2002 and men's baseball, which has qualified for the NCAA Tournament seven times since 2004.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are the athletic teams that represent Coastal Carolina University. They participate in Division I of the NCAA as a member of the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) in most sports, having joined that conference as a full but non-football member on July 1, 2016. At that time, the football team began a transition from the second-level Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to the top-level Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The team played the 2016 season as an FCS independent, joined SBC football for the 2017 season, and became full FBS members for 2018 and beyond. A Chanticleer is a proud and fierce rooster. Before joining the SBC, the Chanticleers had been members of the Big South Conference since that league's formation in 1983. Coastal fields varsity teams in 19 sports, 8 for men and 11 for women. The university regularly competed for the Sasser Cup, the Big South's trophy for the university with the best sports program among the member institutions, winning the trophy nine times, tied with rival Liberty University.
William Lawrence Laval was an American minor league baseball player, baseball manager, and college baseball, football, and basketball coach. He held head coaching positions at the University of South Carolina, Furman University, Emory and Henry College, and Newberry College. He is the only South Carolina football coach to have produced seven consecutive winning seasons. In 2009, The State called him "the greatest collegiate coach" in the history of South Carolina.

All sports participate in the NCAA Division I except football, which competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Since 1936, varsity sports have competed in the Southern Conference. The Citadel fields teams in sixteen sports, nine for men and seven for women.
Antonio "Tony" Elliott is an American football coach who is currently the head coach at the University of Virginia. He previously served as an assistant coach at Clemson University from 2011 to 2021, most recently as associate head coach, offensive coordinator, and tight ends coach, after serving most of those years as running backs coach and/or co-offensive coordinator.

Earl Grant is an American college basketball coach and the current head coach for the Boston College Eagles men's basketball team. Prior to being named head coach at Boston College, Grant served as head coach at the College of Charleston, as an assistant coach at Clemson University, and an assistant coach for six years under former Charleston assistant coach Gregg Marshall at Wichita State and Winthrop University. Grant also served as an assistant coach at The Citadel.
William Hall Napier is an American football coach currently serving as head coach at the University of Florida. From 2017 until 2021, he served as head coach at the University of Louisiana, amassing a 40–12 record in four seasons with three consecutive 10+ win seasons and two seasons finishing in the AP Poll, both firsts in the program's history. Prior to Louisiana, he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Arizona State University in 2017.
