The Bangladesh Armed Forces are the military forces of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. They consist of the three uniformed military services: the Bangladesh Army, the Bangladesh Navy and the Bangladesh Air Force. The Armed Forces are under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Defence of the Government of Bangladesh, and are directly administered by the Armed Forces Division of the Prime Minister's Office. The President of Bangladesh serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Bangladesh has the third-largest defence budget in South Asia, The Bangladeshi military is the 37th strongest in the world and the third most powerful military force in South Asia. Border Guard Bangladesh and Bangladesh Coast Guard are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. during peacetime, but during wartime they fall under the command of Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy respectively.
The Bangladesh Army is the land warfare branch and the largest component of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The primary mission of the Army is to defend the land of Bangladesh from any external attack. Control of personnel and operations is administered by the Army Headquarters, Dhaka Cantonment. The Bangladesh Army is also constitutionally obligated to assist the government, during times of domestic national emergency e.g. the army helps people during any natural calamity. This additional role is commonly referred to as "aid to civil administration" or, using the Latin form, "Protectio, Transparentia, Reintegratio", in others words, "Protect and Serve".
Mohammad Ataul Gani Osmani was a Bangladeshi military officer and revolutionary. His military career spanned three decades, beginning with his service in the British Indian Army in 1939. He fought in the Burma Campaign during World War II, and after the partition of India in 1947, he joined the Pakistan Army and served in the East Bengal Regiment, retiring as a colonel in 1967. Osmani joined the Provisional Government of Bangladesh in 1971 as the commander-in-chief of the nascent Bangladesh Forces. Regarded as the founder of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, Osmani retired as the first full general from the Bangladesh Army in 1972.
Pakistan Military Academy, also referred to by its acronym (PMA), is an officers training centre located near Kakul village in the city and district of Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Established in October 1947, it is the sole service academy in Pakistan tasked with training cadets to serve as army officers. For educational training, the institution is accredited by the National University of Sciences & Technology.
The Qatar Football Association is the governing body of football in Qatar. The QFA was founded in 1960 and is based in Doha, Qatar. It became a member of FIFA in 1963 and of AFC in 1967. The Qatar Football Association organizes the main leagues of the Qatar football league system: Qatar Stars League, Qatari Second Division, including domestic cups: Qatar Cup, Emir of Qatar Cup, Sheikh Jassim Cup, Qatari Stars Cup and Qatar FA Cup. Ziaur Rahman, the sixth president of Bangladesh, was assassinated by a faction of officers of Bangladesh Army, on 30 May 1981, in the southeastern port city of Chittagong. Rahman went to Chittagong to arbitrate in a clash between the local leaders of his political party, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. On the night of 30 May, a group of officers commandeered the Chittagong Circuit House, a government residence where Rahman was staying, shooting him and several others.
The Jatiya Rakkhi Bahini was a Bangladeshi para-military force formed in 1972 by the Sheikh Mujibur Rahman government.
Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Arora,PVSM, BP was an Indian senior military officer who was the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Eastern Command during the Bangladesh Liberation War and the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. He organised and led the ground forces campaign in the Eastern Front of the war, which led to an overwhelming defeat of the combined Pakistan Armed Forces in East-Pakistan that led to the creation of Bangladesh.
Arambagh Krira Sangha is a Bangladeshi sports club based in Dhaka, that competes in the Dhaka Senior Division Football League, the third-tier of football in Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) is a tri-services volunteer reserve defence force comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force wing for school, college and university students. It is the second line of defence headed by Bangladesh Army.
ARTDOC is a research-oriented formation in the Bangladesh Army. Its headquarters is located in Momenshahi Cantonment, Mymensingh. It is charged with overseeing training evaluation and reforms; weapon, equipment and force modernization; development of concepts and doctrine revision. It consists of its headquarters, battle group and all the training institutions of the Bangladesh Army. The first General Officer Commanding of ARTDOC was Major General Muhammad Zia-Ur-Rahman, ndc, psc.
Daniel Robert Hokanson is a retired United States Army general who last served as the 29th chief of the National Guard Bureau. He previously served as the 21st director of the Army National Guard. His previous military assignments include serving as vice chief of the National Guard Bureau, deputy commander of United States Northern Command, adjutant general of the Oregon National Guard, and commander of the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Just Cause.
S. M. Matiur Rahman OSP (BAR), SUP, afwc, psc, is a retired three-star-rank Bangladesh Army officer, a lieutenant general. He was general officer commanding, Army Training and Doctrine Command, Mymensingh Cantonment. Prior to join ARTDOC, he was GOC of 24 Infantry Division and area commander of Chattogram area. Earlier, he was adjutant general of the Bangladesh Army. He was also the vice chairman of Trust Bank's board of directors. He served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry Division & Area Commander of Jessore Area. He also served as the director of Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Bureau (CTIB) of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence. He served as commander of 46th Independent Infantry Brigade. He also served as additional director general (operations) of the Rapid Action Battalion.
Siddiqur Rahman Sarker SGP, BGBM, PBGM, hdmc, psc is a retired major general, two-star rank officer in the Bangladesh Army and a former engineer-in-chief at the Bangladesh Army headquarters. He is incumbent chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha. He has also served as the commandant of Military Institute of Science and Technology. He commanded the 14 independent Engineer Brigade.
Mujibur Rahman is a former Bangladeshi military officer who was the longest serving director general of the Special Security Force. Prior to his dismissal on 11 September, 2024, he served as general officer commanding of Army Training and Doctrine Command. Before that, he was Quartermaster general at Army Headquarters. He came to limelight in 2016, as the Operational Commander who carried out Operation Thunderbolt during the Holey Artisan Attack.
Muhammad Muhsin Alam, ndc, psc, is a brigadier general in the Bangladesh Army. He was the principal of BKSP in 2012 and served there for two years. Brigadier Alam commanded two infantry battalions of the Bangladesh Army. He also served as the brigade commander of an infantry brigade. He commanded of the only para commando brigade of the Bangladesh Army. He served at DRC as the Northern Sector Commander of MONUSCO.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman OSP SGP psc is a four star general of the Bangladesh Army who is the current Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the Bangladesh Army since 23 June 2024. Prior to his appointment as CAS, he served as the Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Bangladesh Army. He is also the Colonel Commandant of Army Service Corps. Previously, he served as the 15th Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division.
Kabir Ahmed is a Major General of Bangladesh Army and Commandant, School of Infantry and Tactics. He served as Military Secretary to Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina. Prior to join Prime Minister's office, he was posted at Directorate General of Forces Intelligence. He elevated to the rank of Major General on 20 July 2022.

Before that, he served as DG of Directorate-General of Forces Intelligence. He served as the 28th commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC). Prior to join here, he was GOC of the 66 Infantry Division, Bangladesh Army and area commander, Rangpur Area. He also served as the commandant of Army Security Unit of Bangladesh Army.
