Alia Vulnavia Phibes is an American illustrator known for her slick, retro-inspired images, cartoons and pinups.

Life

Phibes was born in Baltimore, she also lived in New Mexico and Colorado before settling in Brooklyn, New York in 1998.

Phibes worked as a commercial illustrator before founding her design studio, EvilKid Productions in 2000. Under the EvilKid moniker, Phibes has done the webcomic "Evilkid Comix" and currently produces the webcomic Kitty and Robot.

In her commercial illustration career, she illustrated the books "make me a Popstar" by Michelle Tauber and "Shaking Her Assets" by Robin Epstein and Renee Kaplan. In her limited fine art career, she has done solo shows at Blue Ruin gallery in Pittsburgh and at Trinity Art Gallery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has also shown works in the Seattle Erotic Art Festival and the Dirty Show in Detroit. In 2005, she co-founded Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School, with Molly Crabapple. [1] [2] [3]

Phibes also spent a few years as a sideshow performer, doing fire-eating, escapism, glass walking, a bed of nails act and human blockhead. She was a member of the Modern Gypsies Sideshow and later the Pyrate Sisters All-Girl Sideshow (with whom she still occasionally performs). She has also acted in plays with the informal theater group "The Lion Pinball Players."

Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School is both a burlesque cabaret and life drawing event originating in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, at the Lucky Cat. Dr. Sketchy's was founded in New York City in 2005, by illustrator and former artist's model Molly Crabapple and illustrator A.V. Phibes who later left to attend to her design studio.

Lola the Vamp is an Australian dancer and part of the neo-burlesque movement. She is the only burlesque performer in theatrical history to perform burlesque as part of her submission for a PhD. She completed a creative component Ph.D. involving the production of creative product and thesis at Griffith University in Queensland. Her performance history began at the Neo-Burlesque festival, Tease-o-rama, in 2002. She has performed at Go Go Burlesco in Sydney, the Edinburgh Fringe, The Big Day Out, Woodford Folk Festival, Valley Fiesta and solo tours of the East Coast of Australia. She co-founded 34b Burlesque in Sydney in 2005, making regular appearances until its closure in 2012. She was the Australian Penthouse Pet of the Month in November 2007. In 2008 and 2012 she was a headliner of Tease-o-rama. From 2009 to 2011 she operated Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School in Brisbane. She has performed at the Australian Burlesque Festival every year since 2010 and headlined in 2013. She has also appeared in music videos and films. In 2013, she joined Australian band, Desert Blues Cartel as a guest singer and performer. They released the single, Ma Cherie, in 2014, and Lola also heads her own band, Irresolute. Lola headlined the Perth International Burlesque Festival 2015

Heather MacAllister was an American burlesque performer and social justice activist, whose work covered anti-racism, LGBT rights, and especially the fat acceptance movement. MacAllister performed on stage as Reva Lucian, a play on 'revolution', and Ms. Demeanor.
