The ADG Excellence in Production Design Awards are awards presented annually by the Art Directors Guild (ADG) to recognize excellence in production design and art direction in the film and television industries. Honorees are presented with an award made by the New York firm Society Awards.
The Directors Guild of America Awards are issued annually by the Directors Guild of America. The first DGA Award was an "Honorary Life Member" award issued in 1938 to D. W. Griffith. The statues are made by New York firm, Society Awards.
The 10th Art Directors Guild Awards, given on 11 February 2006, honored the best art directors of 2005.
Keith Ian Raywood is an American production designer best known as Art Director for Saturday Night Live (SNL) since 1985 and Production Designer for SNL since 1990. He has designed music videos and live performances for major recording artists, international and national commercial spots, MSG & MSG+ networks, and theatre productions both regional and in New York.
Dennis Gassner is an American-Canadian production designer. He is notable for his work on Bugsy, Big Fish, Into the Woods, and Blade Runner 2049, his collaborations with the Coen brothers and Sam Mendes, as well the James Bond films Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre, the latter two directed by Mendes. He has been nominated seven times for the Academy Award for Best Production Design, and has won once. Gassner was nominated for the Art Directors Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design for a Contemporary Film for his work on Quantum of Solace, and won for his work on Skyfall.
The 15th Art Directors Guild Awards, which were given on February 5, 2011, honored the best production designers of 2010.
François Audouy is a French-American movie production designer. He is a frequent collaborator with director James Mangold, having designed The Wolverine (2013) its sequel Logan (2016), and Ford v Ferrari (2019) which was nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Picture. He also designed the Mangold film A Complete Unknown, which is currently in production.
James Chinlund is an American production designer. He was born and raised in New York City and studied Fine Art at CalArts in Los Angeles, with a focus on sculpture and large scale installation art works. After graduating, Chinlund returned to New York and started his career in film, first as a carpenter, before finding opportunities as a Production Designer on music videos and independent films. During this period he first worked with frequent collaborator Darren Aronofsky in addition to other directors in the New York independent film world including: Todd Solondz (Storytelling), Paul Schrader and Spike Lee. After a short break from features to help care for his young daughter, Chinlund returned to the feature world in 2012 to work on The Avengers for Marvel which set a record for the highest grossing opening weekend ever. Since then he has been nominated six times for Art Director's Guild Awards. Two for his work on the Fox films Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes directed by Matt Reeves, and most recently for his work on The Lion King directed by Jon Favreau which was the first feature film ever shot entirely in Virtual Reality. Over the years James has been active in the commercial and fashion worlds as well. Collaborators include: Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Rupert Sanders, Spike Jonze, Marc Forster, Lance Acord, Gus Van Sant and Harmony Korine. James is currently an production designer on The Batman directed by Matt Reeves, which was released on March 4, 2022.
Ryo Sugimoto is the President and Representative Director of ROJI Co. Limited. Born in 1976, he studied under production designers Yohei Taneda and Mitsuo Harada as an art assistant. He Joined NOUVELLE VAGUE Co., Limited in 2005, and working as an art designer for AEGIS (2005) and Tokyo Tower: Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad (2007). He was an art director for BABEL (2007), directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu, which won the 59th Artistic Directors Society Award for production design in 2007. In the same year, he participated in Chameleon (2008), directed by Junji Sakamoto, as the first production designer. Since then, he has worked as a production designer for Map of the sounds of Tokyo (2008), directed by Isabelle Coixet, among others. He has also designed commercials, music videos, and interiors. He retired from NOUVELLE VAGUE Co., Ltd. in 2021. In September of the same year.
