The Academy Award for Best Production Design recognizes achievement for art direction in film. The category's original name was Best Art Direction, but was changed to its current name in 2012 for the 85th Academy Awards. This change resulted from the Art Director's branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) being renamed the Designer's branch. Since 1947, the award is shared with the set decorator(s). It is awarded to the best interior design in a film.

Woody Allen American film director, writer, actor, and comedian

Heywood "Woody" Allen is an American film director, writer, actor, and comedian whose career spans more than six decades and multiple Academy Award-winning films. He began his career writing material for television in the 1950s, mainly Your Show of Shows (1950-1954) working alongside Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Larry Gelbart, and Neil Simon. He also published several books featuring short stories and wrote humor pieces for The New Yorker. In the early 1960s, he performed as a stand-up comedian in Greenwich Village alongside Lenny Bruce, Elaine May, Mike Nichols, and Joan Rivers. There he developed a monologue style and the persona of an insecure, intellectual, fretful nebbish. He released three comedy albums during the mid to late 1960s, earning a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album nomination for his 1964 comedy album entitled simply, Woody Allen. In 2004, Comedy Central ranked Allen fourth on a list of the 100 greatest stand-up comedians, while a UK survey ranked Allen the third-greatest comedian.

Airfield Defence Guards (ADG) are a mustering of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) that are dedicated to the security and ground defence of airbases and other military aviation assets. Other duties include training other RAAF personnel, in skills such as the handling of small arms and infantry tactics. They do not, however, operate anti-aircraft artillery or missiles.

The Directors Guild of America (DGA) is an entertainment guild that represents the interests of film and television directors in the United States motion picture industry and abroad. Founded as the Screen Directors Guild in 1936, the group merged with the Radio and Television Directors Guild in 1960 to become the modern Directors Guild of America.

Joan Allen American actress (born 1956)

Joan Allen is an American actress. She began her career with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in 1977, won the 1984 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Play for And a Nightingale Sang, and won the 1988 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her Broadway debut in Burn This. She is also a three-time Academy Award nominee, receiving Best Supporting Actress nominations for Nixon (1995) and The Crucible (1996), and a Best Actress nomination for The Contender (2000).

The Art Directors Guild is a labor union and local of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE) representing 2,979 motion picture and television professionals in the United States and Canada.

François Audouy

François Audouy is a French-American movie production designer. He is a frequent collaborator with director James Mangold, having designed The Wolverine (2013) its sequel Logan (2016), and Ford v Ferrari (2019) which was nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Picture. Other design credits include the fantasy films Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012) Dracula Untold (2014) and Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021).

Robert Gould is an American art director. He was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Art Direction for the film The Artist. The son of director Charles S. Gould, Robert Gould is credited with work on over 100 films and television series'.

Eve Stewart is a British production designer. She grew up in Camden Town and later trained in film, originally working in theatre. She later became a set designer, starting with Naked in 1993. In 1999, she received a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Production Design for Topsy-Turvy. She later began a collaboration with director Tom Hooper, working on Elizabeth I, The Damned United, The King's Speech, Les Misérables, and The Danish Girl.

Andy Nicholson (production designer)

Andy Nicholson is an English production designer who has worked on various films, including Gravity, Divergent, Assassin's Creed, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Nicholson has also worked as an art director for numerous films, including several by director Tim Burton.

Anastasia Masaro is a production designer who was nominated for both an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award for the film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

James J. Murakami is a Japanese-American art director and production designer.

Australian Directors Guild

The Australian Directors' Guild (ADG) is an industry guild representing the interests of film, television, commercials and digital media directors, including documentary makers and animators, throughout Australia. With its headquarters in Sydney, the ADG has branches in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia. As of 2022 the president of ADG is Rowan Woods.

Daina Reid is an Australian director and actress, known for Full Frontal from 1995 to 1997. Her directing credits include Sunshine for Australian broadcaster, SBS, The Secret River, INXS: Never Tear Us Apart, Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo and Howzat! Kerry Packer's War. She has also directed episodes of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Offspring, The Handmaids Tale,The Outsider, Space Force and Young Rock.

Raymond Charles Argall is best known as a cinematographer and director for both film and television. He has also worked as an editor. His multi-award-winning feature film Return Home (1990) is regarded by many critics as an Australian cinema classic. Argall served on the board of the Australian Directors Guild (ADG) for sixteen years, holding the position of president from 2006 to 2015 and secretary from 2015 to 2017. In 2016, Argall launched a business restoring archival films through his production company Piccolo Films. In 2018 the ADG presented him with its prestigious Cecil Holmes Award.

The 25th Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards, honoring the best production designers in film, television and media of 2020, is set to be held on April 10, 2021, in a virtual ceremony. The nominations were announced on February 25, 2021.

The 26th Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards, honoring the best production designers in film, television and media of 2021, is set to be held on March 5, 2022, at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, California, United States. The nominations were announced on January 24, 2022.
