Dalbec, is also a former member of Converge (1994–2001) and Velocity Engine.
Dalbec originally formed Bane as a Converge side-project, but his devotion to Bane led to being asked to leave Converge, turning Bane into a full-time project. [1]

Converge is an American hardcore punk band formed by vocalist Jacob Bannon and guitarist Kurt Ballou in Salem, Massachusetts in 1990. During the recording of their seminal fourth album Jane Doe, the group became a four-piece with the departure of guitarist Aaron Dalbec and the addition of bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller. This lineup has remained intact since. They have released nine studio albums, three live albums, and numerous EPs. The band's sound is rooted in hardcore and also features frequent influences from heavy metal. They are considered pioneers of metalcore as well as its subgenre mathcore.

Bane was an American hardcore punk band that began in 1995 as a side project between Aaron Dalbec and Damon Bellorado. Dalbec approached Matt Firestone to sing and they played under the moniker of Gateway for a few shows, before Firestone parted ways to focus on other projects. The group signed to Equal Vision Records in December 2019 and released its debut album, The Weight and the Cost, through the label in August 2020.
