Malayalam cinema is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Malayalam language widely spoken in the state of Kerala, India. In 1982, Elippathayam won the Sutherland Trophy at the London Film Festival, and Most Original Imaginative Film of 1982 by the British Film Institute. He has made over 325 appearances in feature films during the span of his career, primarily in Malayalam cinema and also in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada films.
Swami Ayyappan is an Indian soap opera that debuted on Asianet channel. The show was produced by Merryland Studio and had four seasons. It was one of the top-rated serials in Indian television. Suresh Unnithan directed the first season of the series. The series was dubbed into Tamil as Swami Ayyapan for Vijay TV and Telugu as Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa for MAA TV.
Lailaa O Lailaa is a 2015 Indian Malayalam-language action spy thriller film directed by Joshiy. It stars Mohanlal and Amala Paul alongside a supporting cast of Sathyaraj, Joy Mathew, Sreerag Nambiar, Rahul Dev and Kainaat Arora. Bollywood screenwriter Suresh Nair debuted in Malayalam as writer in the film. The original soundtrack and background score were composed by Gopi Sunder.
Kana Kaanum Kaalangal is a Tamil drama soap opera that aired in Star Vijay, Monday to Thursday, from 30 October 2006 to 28 April 2009. It was the first soap in Tamil television that focused on school life. Due to the success of the show, a sequel called Kana Kaanum Kaalangal Kallooriyin Kadhai was made. Later another sequel to the serial called Kana Kaanum Kalangal Kalloori Saalai was also made. Both the sequels focused on college life. It was re-aired on Star Vijay Super from 16 January 2017, Monday through Friday at 8:00PM.
Premam (transl. Love) is a 2015 Indian Malayalam-language coming of age romance film written, directed and edited by Alphonse Puthren. Produced by Anwar Rasheed, it features Nivin Pauly and Sai Pallavi in the prominent roles. The movie marks Pallavi's debut as the lead, after appearing as a junior artist, and also features an ensemble supporting cast including Madonna Sebastian, Anupama Parameswaran, Shabareesh Varma, Krishna Sankar, Siju Wilson, Ananth Nag, Vinay Forrt, Soubin Shahir, Sharafudheen and others. The plot follows George (Nivin) and his friends from their teens to adulthood. While George's first love turns out to be a disappointment, Malar (Pallavi), a college lecturer, rekindles his love interest. His romantic journey takes him through several stages, helping him find his purpose.
Kolangal is an Indian Tamil language soap opera which aired on Sun TV. It aired from 24 November 2003 to 4 December 2009 for 1,533 episodes.
Loham: The Yellow Metal is a 2015 Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film written and directed by Ranjith, and produced by Antony Perumbavoor for the production company Aashirvad Cinemas. The film, starring Mohanlal, Renji Panicker, Siddique, Andrea Jeremiah and Ajmal Ameer is about an elusive smuggling operation and the mysterious disappearance of 100 kilograms (220 lb) of gold. Sreevalsan J. Menon and C. Rajamani composed the soundtrack and film score, respectively.
Lion is a 2006 Indian Malayalam language political thriller film written by Udaykrishna-Sibi K. Thomas and directed by Joshiy. The film stars Dileep, Kalasala Babu, Kavya Madhavan and Vijayaraghavan alongside a supporting cast that include Jagathy Sreekumar, Innocent, Sai Kumar, Shammi Thilakan, Riyaz Khan and Karthika. The film was produced by Noushad and distributed by Shan Entertainment. The film was a blockbuster at the box office. It was remade in Tamil as Nam Naadu and in Telugu as Evadaithe Nakenti.
Kayal is an 2021 Indian Tamil-language television series starring Chaitra Reddy and Sanjeev Karthik, which itself loosely based on Tamil movie Manathil Urudhi Vendum. Kayal, a nurse, is the sole breadwinner of her family with two siblings where she has an 1 elder brother Moorthy youngest brother Anbuselvan and 2 younger sisters Anandhi and Devi siblings. She finds happiness in her sacrifice to meet the needs of her brothers Moorthy and Anbuselvan and sisters Anandhi and Devi.
