Abbas Salimi bin Azmi is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Seri Serdang since August 2023. He served as Member of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) from 2018 to 2023. [1] [2] [3] [4] He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He also served as the Vice Youth Chief IV of AMANAH from January 2020 to December 2023.
In 2018,he proposed the establishment of a special fund for the late Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim as a sign of solidarity to the family of the late. [2]
He contested in the Seri Serdang state election under Pakatan Harapan in 2023. In the three-cornered battle,he faced new candidates in the election –Amir Hariri Abdul Hadi from MUDA and Mohd Shukor Mustaffa from BERSATU,a component party of PN. When contesting,he emphasized that the state government has run many programs related to youth to help their well-being and he promised to continue those programs. [5]

Subang Jaya is a city in Petaling District,Selangor,Malaysia. It comprises the southern third district of Petaling. It consists of the neighbourhoods from SS12 to SS19,UEP Subang Jaya (USJ),Putra Heights,Batu Tiga as well as PJS7,PJS9 and PJS11 of Bandar Sunway,the latter of which are partially jurisdictional within Petaling Jaya under the MBPJ. The city is governed by Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ),which also governs other areas of the Petaling district,such as Puchong and Seri Kembangan. According to Subang Jaya City Council,Subang Jaya has a population of 968,930 in 2020,which makes it the sixth largest city in Malaysia by population.

A by-election was held on 8 September 2018 for the Selangor State Legislative Assembly seat of Balakong. The seat became vacant after the death of the incumbent assemblyman,Eddie Ng Tien Chee on 20 July 2018 in a traffic accident on the Cheras–Kajang Expressway. Eddie Ng was a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP),a component party of the state ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. This was the second casual vacancy in the Assembly since the May 2018 general election after Sungai Kandis,which held a by-election in August 2018. The by-election will be held on the same day as the Seri Setia by-election. In the last 2018 general election,Ng defeated Barisan Nasional (BN)'s Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) candidate,Lim Chin Wah and Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali of Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS),with a vote majority of 35,538.
