Abbeylara Gaelic Football Club is a Gaelic football club based in Abbeylara, County Longford, Ireland. [1] [2]
The Abbeylara club can trace its origins back to the Ballywillan Michael Davitts club (founded in 1889 and named after Michael Davitt) who competed in the first Longford Senior Football Championship in 1890 (also referred to as Abbeylara Davitts). During the 1891 Senior Football Championship, Ballywillan Michael Davitts changed its name to Ballywillan Faugh a'Ballaghs. The club went into decline thereafter as all GAA competition ceased in Longford (and across much of the country) due to the Parnell saga.
The modern day Abbeylara club was first affiliated in 1928. [3] [4]
A 'United Gaels' amalgamation representing Granard and Abbeylara reached the final of the Longford Senior Football Championship in 1947. [5]
The club crest depicts the ruins of the nearby Abbey of Lerha.
Abbeylara reached their first county final in 1998.
Abbeylara have won the Longford Senior Football Championship twice, in 2000 and 2006. [6] They have been defeated in the Longford final in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The county board is also responsible for the Warwickshire county teams. Warwickshire have won the Lory Meagher Cup two times. The first victory was in 2013 beating Longford in the hurling final on 8 June 2013 at Croke Park, 2-16 to 0-10. The second in 2017 beating Leitrim on the 10 June 2017 at Croke Park, 0-17 to 0-11. Warwickshire again beat Longford to win the Allianz NHL Div 3B hurling final on 4 April 2015 in Ratoath, Meath. Final score: Warwickshire 1-15, Longford 2-10.
Michael Davitt's GAC Swatragh is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Swatragh. The club is a member of the Derry GAA and currently caters for Gaelic football, hurling and camogie. The club is named after republican patriot and revolutionary Michael Davitt.
The Longford Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised by Longford GAA among the Senior grade Gaelic football clubs in County Longford, Ireland. The winning club qualifies to represent its county in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship.

Glasgow Gaels Gaelic Football Club or Glasgow Gaels GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Glasgow. They have also been featured on Joe.ie's "80 clubs around the World" in 2016.
Tír Conaill Harps Gaelic Athletics Club (GAC), is a Gaelic football club based in Glasgow, Scotland. The club plays Gaelic football at both senior and underage levels. Tir Conaill Harps is the biggest Gaelic football club in Scotland in terms of structure and has a fully integrated youth system fielding teams for all age groups. The club's colours are green and gold.
Longford Slashers is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Longford, County Longford, Ireland. The club is based at Michael Fay Park in Longford Town and has won the Longford Senior Football Championship 16 times - more than any other club in the county.
