Abby Newhook is a Canadian ice hockey forward, currently committed to play for Boston College in 2021.

Career

Newhook began playing hockey at the age of three. Until 2018, she played for the boys' St. John's Hitmen bantam AAA, serving as team captain in the 2017–18 season. [1] She then moved to the United States to play for the Bay State Breakers and Tabor Academy. [2]

She committed to join Boston College in the United States for college hockey when she was 14, the youngest girl from Newfoundland & Labrador to commit to a Division I NCAA team. [3] [4] She will begin studying at the university in the 2021–22 season. [5]

Personal life

Her brother, Alex Newhook, also played for Boston College and was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the first-round, 16th overall, of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. [6] [7]

<i>Kraft Hockeyville</i> Community competition in ice hockey

Kraft Hockeyville is an annual competition sponsored by Kraft Heinz, the National Hockey League and the NHL Players' Association in which communities compete to demonstrate their commitment to the sport of ice hockey. The winning community gets a cash prize dedicated to upgrading their local home arena, as well as the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game. Runners-up also get smaller cash prizes to upgrade their ice rinks. The Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament is an annual minor ice hockey event in Quebec City. The 2021–22 Boston College Eagles men's ice hockey team represented Boston College in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season. The Eagles played their home games at Kelley Rink on the campus of Boston College, competing in Hockey East. It was the 100th season of play for the program, and the 38th season in the Hockey East conference.
