Alexander Kelly McClure was an American politician,newspaper editor,and writer from Pennsylvania. He served as a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1858 to 1859 and 1865 to 1866 as well as a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate for the 18th district in 1861 and the 4th district from 1873 to 1874. He was a prominent supporter,correspondent,and biographer of President Abraham Lincoln. He was the editor of the Franklin Repository newspaper in Chambersburg,Pennsylvania and of the Philadelphia Times. The borough of McClure,Pennsylvania,and the Alexander K. McClure School in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania,are named in his honor.
Rees Hill was a U.S. army colonel in the War of 1812 and a politician who served as a Republican and Democratic-Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for Greene County from 1810 to 1813 and from 1814 to 1820,including as Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1816 and 1819. He also served as a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania State Senate for the 18th district from 1821 to 1822 and the 20th district from 1823 to 1824.

A special election for Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district was held on March 13,2018,following the resignation of Republican representative Tim Murphy. Murphy,who held the seat since January 3,2003,declared his intent to resign on October 5,2017,and vacated his seat on October 21 that year. Democrat Conor Lamb defeated Republican Rick Saccone 49.86% to 49.53%. Saccone conceded the race eight days after the election.

James Stevenson (1740–1813) was an American politician from Virginia that would go on to represent the 18th district in the Pennsylvania State Senate,as well as representing Washington County in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democratic-Republican. Stevenson was one of the close childhood friends of George Washington and served as a Captain during the American Revolutionary War for the Continental Army.
