Abelardo de la Espriella (born July 31, 1978) is a Colombian and Italian lawyer, businessman and far-right [1] [2] politician and founder of the Defenders of the Homeland political movement. [3] [4]
Born in Bogotá, D.C., he studied law at Sergio Arboleda University. Abelardo de la Espriella is a lawyer in Colombia and Italy. He holds a specialization in administrative law from Universidad del Rosario and a master's degree in law from Nebrija University. [5] [6] [7]
De la Espriella has expressed admiration for other far-right leaders, such as Javier Milei. [1] [2] Like Milei, he is supportive of economic neoliberalism. [1] He previously served as an advisor to the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, a far-right paramilitary organisation and drug-trafficking cartel regarded by the United States and European Union as a terrorist group.
