The Abilene Christian Wildcats softball team represents Abilene Christian University, located in Abilene, Texas. The Wildcats are a member of the Western Athletic Conference and participate in Division I college softball. The team is currently led by head coach Abigail Farler and plays home games at Poly Wells Field. In its inaugural 1997 season, the Wildcats finished with a remarkable #4 South Central Regional ranking and a #12 NCAA II ranking in March 1998.

The Southland Conference, abbreviated as SLC, is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the South Central United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I for all sports; for football, it participates in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Southland sponsors 18 sports, 10 for women and eight for men, and is governed by a presidential Board of Directors and an Advisory Council of athletic and academic administrators. Tom Burnett was named the Southland's sixth commissioner on Dec. 23, 2002. From 1996 to 2002, for football only, the Southland Conference was known as the Southland Football League.
The Lamar Cardinals and Lady Cardinals refers to the college athletics teams of Lamar University, in Beaumont, Texas. The Cardinals and Lady Cardinals teams compete in seventeen NCAA Division I sports as a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) after officially joining the conference on July 1, 2021.
Wallace "Coach Bully" Bullington is a former American football player, coach, and college athletics administrator. He served Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas for 39 years as football player, assistant football coach, head football coach and athletic director before he retired from the university's athletic staff in 1988, but not before leading the school to its first national championship in 1973.
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks are composed of 16 teams representing Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) in intercollegiate athletics. Stephen F. The Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year is a basketball award given to the Southland Conference's most outstanding player. The award was first given following the conference's inaugural basketball season of 1963–64. Five players have won the award two times: Jerry Rook, Larry Jeffries, Andrew Toney, Ryan Stuart and Thomas Walkup. No player has ever won three times.
Abilene Christian Wildcats refers to the sports teams of Abilene Christian University located in Abilene, Texas. The Wildcats joined the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) on July 1, 2021 after having spent the previous eight years in the Southland Conference. The nickname "Wildcat" is derived from the mascot of the team.
The Abilene Christian Wildcats football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the Abilene Christian University located in the U.S. state of Texas. The team was a member of the Southland Conference through the 2020–21 season, but joined the Western Athletic Conference in July 2021, coinciding with that league's reinstatement of football as an official conference sport. The school's first football team was fielded in 1919. The team plays its home games at the on-campus Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium.

The Lady Cardinals are currently led by head coach Amy Hooks. The team played its home games at the off-campus Ford Park for the first two seasons following the program restart. The Lady Cardinals began playing home games at the Lamar Softball Complex located on the university's campus starting with the 2015 season.
Joe Golding is an American basketball coach. He is the head men's basketball coach for The University of Texas at El Paso, former head coach for Abilene Christian University and a former assistant coach at University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Britt Bonneau is an American college baseball coach who had been the head coach at Abilene Christian (ACU) from 1997 to the competition of the 2018 season. Under Bonneau, ACU played in nine NCAA Tournaments. Previously, he was an assistant at UTSA, Lubbock Christian, and Abilene Christian. Bonneau played professional baseball in the mid-1990s after playing college baseball at Lubbock Christian and Oklahoma.
The 2014–15 Abilene Christian Wildcats men's basketball team represented Abilene Christian University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wildcats were led by fourth year head coach Joe Golding and played their home games at the Moody Coliseum. They are members of the Southland Conference. Abilene Christian, in their second year of DII to DI transition, was not eligible for the Southland Tournament, but was a counter for scheduling purposes and was also considered as a DI RPI member.
The 2015 Abilene Christian Wildcats football team represented Abilene Christian University in the 2015 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Wildcats were in their third transition season of at the FCS level. They were led by fourth-year head coach Ken Collums. They play their home games at Shotwell Stadium. This was the Wildcats second season in the Southland Conference since their return to the conference. They finished the season 3–8, 3–6 in Southland play to finish in a three-way tie for eighth place.
Poly Wells Field is the home stadium for the Division I (NCAA) Abilene Christian Wildcats softball team. The stadium is located on the campus of Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. Amenities include bleacher seating for 1,000 fans; field lighting; an electronic scoreboard; dugouts; batting cages outside of the right field line; restrooms; and locker rooms. The entire playing surface was changed from natural grass to AstroTurf in 2015–16. Brown turf was installed in the infield, and green turf was installed in the outfield. The dugout surfaces were raised to field level prior to the AstroTurf installation.
The 2017–18 Abilene Christian Wildcats women's basketball team represented Abilene Christian University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wildcats, led by sixth year head coach Julie Goodenough, played their home games at the Moody Coliseum. They finished the season 16–14, 9–9 in Southland play to finish in seventh place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the Southland Women's Tournament where they lost to Central Arkansas.
The 2019 NCAA Division I Softball season, play of college softball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began February 7, 2019. The season will progress through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and will conclude with the 2019 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament and 2019 Women's College World Series. The Women's College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament will be held annually in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, will end in June 2019.

The Wildcats, led by ninth-year head coach Joe Golding, played their home games at the Moody Coliseum in Abilene, Texas as members of the Southland Conference. They finished the season 20–11, 15–5 in Southland play to finish in a tie for second place. As the No. 2 seed, they received a double-bye to the semifinals of the Southland Tournament, however, the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2019–20 Abilene Christian Wildcats women's basketball team represented Abilene Christian University during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wildcats, led by eighth year head coach Julie Goodenough, played their home games at the Moody Coliseum as members of the Southland Conference. They finished the season 24–5, 16–4 in Southland play to finish in second place. Before they could play in the Southland Women's Tournament however, the tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2020–21 Abilene Christian Wildcats men's basketball team represented Abilene Christian University (ACU) in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wildcats, led by tenth-year head coach Joe Golding, were members of the Southland Conference. Due to renovations at their usual home arena of Moody Coliseum, they played their home games on temporary stands and court set up on the indoor tennis courts of the Teague Special Events Center.

The Wildcats played their home games at Crutcher Scott Field and were led by third–year head coach Rick McCarty. They were members of the Southland Conference. This was Abilene Christian's final year in the Southland as they will be moving to the Western Athletic Conference for the 2022 season.
