Abu Solaiman Chowdhury was a Bangladeshi freedom fighter and former cabinet secretary of Bangladesh. [1] [2]

Biography

Abu Solaiman Chowdhury joined Bangladesh Administrative Service in 1973. [2] He served as Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka and Pabna . [2] He also served as Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka Division, Director Prime Minister's Office and Secretary of Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, President's Office and Cabinet Division. [1] [2] When he was the Secretary of Ministry of Liberation War Affairs he played an important role in shifting the grave of Matiur Rahman from Pakistan to Bangladesh. [2] Besides, he also served as Chairman of Bangladesh Privatization Commission and Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation. [2] He also connected with Chattogram Samity in Dhaka. [3] [4] He died on 27 September 2019 in United Hospital, Dhaka. [1] [5] [6]

He resigned along with three other advisers, namely, Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury, C M Shafi Sami and Sultana Kamal on the grounds of dissatisfaction with President Dr. Iajuddin Ahmed caretaker government. According to them, there was no scope to contribute in the caretaker government to create a congenial atmosphere for holding a free and fair election. In October 2007, the Government of Bangladesh constituted a Regulatory Reforms Commission (RRC) with him as the chair.

Gulzar Ahmed Chowdhury was a politician in the Sunamganj District of the Sylhet Division of Bangladesh. He was elected member of parliament for the Sunamganj-3 constituency as a Bangladesh Nationalist Party candidate in the sixth Jatiya Sangsad elections held on 15 February 1996.
