Abubakar Balarabe "A.B." Mahmoud (born 15 January 1955) is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Kano State and he was the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association and also Pro-chancellor of Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil.

Early life and education

Mahmoud was born in Kano State and started his primary education in Kano, he attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where he obtained Bachelor of Law and Master of Law in 1979 and 1984 respectively where he obtained Bachelor of Laws he went to Nigerian Law School where he was trained as Legal Practitioner and he was called to bar in May 1979. [1]

Career

Mahmoud began his career in 1979 as a state council with Kano State Ministry of Justice up-to Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Kano State he resigned and founded the law firm of Dikko & Mahmoud in 1993, [2] he was elected as Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Kano Branch also in 1993. he became the Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2001 and he was elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association where he served between 2016 and 2018 [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] He is the first Vice President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange [10] [11] He is the council to former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor and the Former Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. He is a member of the Dabo dynasty and the 14th emir of the ancient city-state of Kano. He was born in Kano in 1961 into the royal family as the grandson of Muhammadu Sanusi I. He succeeded his great-uncle Ado Bayero to the throne on 8 June 2014, and spent most of his reign advocating for cultural reform in Northern Nigeria, until his dethronement on 9 March 2020.

Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko also known as Muhammad Dikko dan Gidado, was the 47th Emir of Katsina from 9 November 1906 until his death in 1944. He was the ninth Fulani emir, as well as the first emir from the current ruling Sullubawa dynasty, succeeding Yero dan Musa, the last emir from the Dallazawa dynasty which was installed by the Jihad of Usman dan Fodio. He came to power shortly after British rule began in 1903 following the signing of a treaty between the then Emir, Abubakar dan Ibrahim, and British officials. He was a brother to Binta the paternal grand mother of Shehu Musa Yar'adua and Umaru Musa Yar'adua, he was succeeded by his son Usman Nagogo who held the title of Emir from 1944 until his death in 1981. He and his entourage were photographed on multiple occasions.

Amina Adamu Aliyu is a Nigerian judge from Kano State She was born in Kano Municipal Local Government Area of Kano State. She pursued her Bachelor of Laws at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, graduating in 1986, and subsequently completed her legal training at the Nigerian Law School, being called to the bar in May 1989. Aliyu started her career as a state counsel in the Kano State Ministry of Justice in 1989, eventually rising to the position of Deputy Director Civil Litigation by 2009 when she became a High Court Judge. Notable cases include chairing the election petition tribunals in Kwara State in 2020 and Kebbi State in the 2019 Nigerian general election. Aliyu also presided over cases involving issues such as irregularities in the selection process of the Kano Emirate Throne and heinous crimes, delivering judgments that led to convictions and sentences.
