Mohammed Abul Bashar Shaikh (born 25 December 1986) is a Bangladeshi first-class cricketer. [1] He is a right handed batsman and a right arm medium fast bowler. He represented Barisal Division cricket team in National Cricket League from 2004 to 2010. [2] He also represented Dhaka Division cricket team in 2011-12 National Cricket League. [3] He made his first-class debut for Barisal Division on March 4,2005,and List A debut for Barisal Division on February 12,2005. [4]
Manjural Islam Rana,also known as Qazi Manjural Islam,was a Bangladeshi cricketer who played six Tests and 25 One Day Internationals for Bangladesh. Born in Khulna,he was a slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler. He played for Khulna Division at domestic level and made his One Day International (ODI) debut in November 2003 against England. Three months later,Rana played his first Test against Zimbabwe. On 16 March 2007,he died of severe head injuries sustained in a road traffic accident at the age of 22.
Raqibul Hasan is a Bangladeshi international cricketer who also plays for Dhaka Division. He played in the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka and in 2007 became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score a triple hundred in first-class cricket when Barisal played Sylhet Division in March 2007. Farhad Reza is a Bangladeshi cricketer who made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Zimbabwe in July 2006 and is the first batsman from Bangladesh to score a half century on ODI debut. He is a right-handed middle order batsman and right arm fast-medium pace bowler and played domestic cricket for Rajshahi Division from 2004 until 2008. Initially Reza was not being picked for the national side by the selectors and Bashar insisted during the tournament that he could have used him. Finally he came to the squad after the injury of Tapash Baisya during the Super Eight stage. Reza retired from international and domestic cricket in September 2008,aged 22,to play in the Indian Cricket League (ICL). He represents the Dhaka Warriors,a team in the ICL made up solely of Bangladeshi players.
The Barisal Division cricket team or Barisal Blazers is a Bangladeshi first-class team representing the Barisal Division,one of the seven administrative regions in Bangladesh. The team competes in the National Cricket League and was formerly a participant in the now-defunct National Cricket League One-Day. In the short-lived National Cricket League Twenty20 competition,played in the 2009–10 season only,Barisal played in their official green and black colors. The equivalent team in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is the Barisal Bulls.
