Adam Carroll (born 11 October 1988 from Cloyne, Cork, Ireland) is an Irish vocalist. He was a founding member of Time Is A Thief, The Gore Club and was vocalist of London-based band Zoax.

Early life and career

Carroll was born and raised in Cloyne, County Cork, Ireland. Carroll's musical career began when he formed Time Is A Thief in 2007 with James Keane who were in school together and friends Micheal Murphy & Pierce Day (Day later replaced by Jeffrey Hayes). He is vocalist in London-based band Zoax which formed in 2013, also in the band are Joe Copcutt, Doug Wotherspoon, Sean Weir & Jonathan Rogers. In 2018 Carroll formed The Gore Club with Joe Copcutt.

Musical influences

Carroll has stated that his music influences range from bands such as Bruce Springsteen, Biffy Clyro, Metallica, Counting Crows, The Ramones to genres such as Jazz and Electronic.

Personal life

Carroll got engaged to his girlfriend in October 2013. He is a big WWE, Horror & Video game fanatic. Carroll has taken part in several podcast series with his friends.

Rockchapel GAA

Rockchapel GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Rockchapel in the North West of County Cork, Ireland which forms part of the parish of Rockchapel and Meelin. The village is located close to border with County Kerry and County Limerick. The club plays Gaelic Football in the Duhallow division competitions. Ladies' Gaelic football is also played within the club. Rockchapel juvenile footballers play with St. Peter's which is an amalgamation of Meelin, Freemount and Rockchapel clubs at juvenile level. They last won the Duhallow Football Championship in 2012 and won the Cork County Junior Football Championship later that year.

Five Go Down to the Sea? Irish band

Five Go Down to the Sea? were an Irish post-punk band from Cork, active from 1978 to 1989. Vocalist and lyricist Finbarr Donnelly, guitarist Ricky Dineen and brothers Philip (bass) and Keith "Smelly" O'Connell (drums) formed the band as Nun Attax when they were teenagers. They became known for Donnelly's absurdist, surreal lyrics and stage presence, Dineen's angular guitar and bass parts, and their Captain Beefheart-style rhythm section. The group later included guitarists Mick Finnegan, Giordaí Ua Laoghaire, Mick Stack, and cellist Úna Ní Chanainn.

Ricky Dineen Irish musician

Ricky Dineen is an Irish musician who was the co-songwriter, guitarist, and at times bassist with the post-punk band Five Go Down to the Sea?, earlier known as Nun Attax, later as Beethoven. He wrote most of the band's music and developed their angular guitar style, which he said was in part influenced by The Mekons, The Fire Engines and Gang of Four.

Finbarr Donnelly Singer from Northern Ireland

Finbarr Donnelly was a singer and songwriter from Northern Ireland, who moved to Cork city at a young age. He is best known as the vocalist with the post-punk band Five Go Down to the Sea?. Known for his striking stage presence and absurdist, surreal lyrics, he and the band were hugely influential on later generations of Irish musicians. Mark McAvoy, author of "Cork Rock: From Rory Gallagher to the Sultans of Ping", writes that "Donnelly probably would have been the most influential musician and songwriter in terms of the Cork music scene and the bands that stemmed from it."
