Adetunwase Adenle is a Nigerian art educator, artist and a former holder of Guinness World Records. He is the co-founder of Slum Art Foundation, and of Ecole de Dessin School of Art. [1] [2] [3]
Adetunwase studied Fine and Applied Art at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka, Lagos. [4]
Adetunwase once held the record for the most children reading aloud with an adult at a single location. The record was set by Adetunwase Adenle, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and the Ecole De Dessin alongside 4,222 children in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria on 8 September 2011 in commemoration of the International Literacy Day. The aim for the feat was to encourage reading among young children. [5] [6] This record was surpassed when 4,695 children read aloud with an Aamer Naeem and Salma Patel at the Bhimber Stadium, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan on 28 April 2013. [7]
Adetunwase also once held the record was for the world's largest special stamp, which measured 2.448 m2 (26 ft2 50 in2). Adenle and his School of Art created the stamp at Top Laurel School in Lagos on 17 November 2016. The project was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the creation of Lagos State. [4] [8] The record was beaten by The Walt Disney Company Italy in Lucca, Italy on 30 October 2019 which painted a large special stamp measuring 4.11 m2 (44 ft2 34 in2) to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Donald Duck's birth. The current holder of the record is Saudi Post with its special stamp which measures 5.95 m2 (64 ft2 7 in2). The record was achieved in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 14 February 2022. [9]
Adetunwase's Ecole De Dessin facilitated and still currently holds the Guinness World Record for the highest number of people washing their hands at the same time. 37,809 schoolchildren were brought together to set the record at an event organized by Unilever Nigeria Lifebuoy Team and the Federal Government of Nigeria at Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan in Lagos, Nigeria on 14 October 2011. The intent was to teach children good hand hygiene as a way to defeat diarrhea. [10] [11]
Adetunwase's Ecole De Dessin also once held the record for the largest painting painted by the highest number of people. The painting, which measured 3,130.55 m2 (63.5 meters x 49.3 meters, or 33,696 ft2 138.2 in2) was completed on 10 October 2020, by the Ecole de Dessin in Lagos State as part of the Nigeria at 50 celebration. [12] The painting was created by 350 volunteers. It depicted, among others, the Nigerian Flag painted around the country's map. It was unveiled by Ecole de Dessin in partnership with the Lagos State Government on 17 November 2010 in celebration of Guinness World Records Day 2010. The painting was created to celebrate Nigeria's 50th Independence anniversary. It was also intended to draw awareness to issues of climate change in Nigeria, while teaching less privileged kids how to draw and paint. [13] The record has since been overturned at the Punjab Youth Festival in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan on 14 March 2013 when 1,557 participants contributed to a painting measuring 3,717 m2 (40,009.29 ft2) over 6 hours. [14]
A megacity is a very large city, typically with a population of more than 10 million people. The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs in its 2018 "World Urbanization Prospects" report defines megacities as urban agglomerations with over 10 million inhabitants. A University of Bonn report holds that they are "usually defined as metropolitan areas with a total population of 10 million or more people". Elsewhere in other sources, from five to eight million is considered the minimum threshold, alongside a population density of at least 2,000 per square kilometre. The terms conurbation, metropolis, and metroplex are also applied to the latter.

Ikeja is the capital city of Lagos State in southwestern Nigeria. Its population, as of the 2006 census, is 313,196. Prior to the emergence of military rule in the early 1980s, Ikeja was a well planned, clean and quiet residential and commercial town with shopping malls, pharmacies and government reservation areas. It lies 10.5 miles (17 km) northwest of Lagos city. The Murtala Muhammed International Airport is located in the city. Ikeja is also home to Femi Kuti's Africa Shrine and Lagbaja's Motherland, both venues for live music. Its Ikeja City Mall is the largest mall on the Lagos State mainland. Ikeja also has its own radio station, broadcasting both in English and in Yoruba.

Kadir Nelson is a Los Angeles–based painter, illustrator, and author who is best known for his paintings often featured on the covers of The New Yorker magazine, and album covers for Michael Jackson and Drake. His work is focused on African-American culture and history. The New York Times describes his work as: "sumptuous, deeply affecting work. Nelson’s paintings are drenched in ambience, and often overt symbolism. He has twice been a Caldecott honor recipient and won the 2020 Caldecott Medal for his book The Undefeated.
Delphin Enjolras was a French academic painter. Enjolras painted portraits, nudes, interiors, and used mostly watercolours, oil, and pastels. He is best known for his intimate portraits of young women performing mundane activities such as reading or sewing, often illuminated by lamplight. Perhaps his most famous work is the "Young Woman Reading by a Window."
Aasutosh Panigrahi is an artist and a Guinness World Record holder. He presently holds the record for World's Largest Indoor Mural. The award was acknowledged by Guinness World Records in August 2005.

It is a permanent exhibition of the National Gallery of Art, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation. The gallery is located within the National Arts Theatre, at Entrance B.
Camille Hilaire was a French painter and weaver from Metz. He attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris during World War II and was also tutored by André Lhote.
Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, who is known professionally as Wizkid, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Born in the Ojuelegba suburb of Surulere, Lagos, Wizkid is a prominent voice in the emerging Afrobeats movement. His music is blend of Afrobeats, afropop, R&B, afrobeat, reggae, dancehall, and pop. He began recording music at the age of 11 and released a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed. In 2009, Wizkid signed a record deal with Banky W's Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E). He rose to the limelight after releasing "Holla at Your Boy", the lead single from his debut studio album, Superstar (2011), which also spawned the singles "Tease Me/Bad Guys" and "Don't Dull".
Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, popularly known by her stage name Kaffy, is a Nigerian dancer, choreographer, dance instructor and fitness coach. She is also the founder and owner of Imagneto Dance Company. She is best known for breaking the Guinness World Record for "Longest Dance Party" at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon in 2006.
André Victor Édouard Devambez was a French painter and illustrator. best-known his whimsical illustrations of children's books and his dramatic paintings of Paris scenes and of early airplanes from a viewpoint high above. He was professor at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, a member of the French Academie des Beaux-Arts, and a Commander of the French Legion of Honor, but his work is little known today aside from nine paintings found in the Musée d'Orsay, and occasional special exhibitions.
Victoria Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire is a Nigerian politician. She served as deputy governor of Lagos State from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, she was the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation of Lagos State from 2003 to 2011.
Tunde Onakoya is a Nigerian chess player and coach, who holds the Guinness World Records for the longest marathon chess game. and founder of Chess in Slums Africa. He has organised a number of interventions for children across slums in Lagos state including Majidun (Ikorodu), Makoko and recently, Oshodi. The children are engaged in a two-week session that seeks to unlock their potential through the game of chess while learning to read, write and acquire basic literacy skills.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Lagos State was held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Lagos State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections coincided with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.

Olufela Omokeko is a Nigerian contemporary multimedia artist who works in performance, installation and photography. Born and based in Iwaya waterfront community in Lagos, Olufela is the artistic director of Slum Makers Art Project (X-MAP) in Makoko, and the co-cultural producer of the annual Iwaya Community Art Festival in Lagos.
