Aditya Captive Power Plant is a captive 900 megawatt power project located at Lapanga, Sambalpur District Odisha which is part of Hindalco's Smelter_power project in Odisha. It has captive coal from Talabira-2 coal block a JV between Mahanadi Coalfields and Neyveli Lignite Corporation. [1]

Project

Hindalco Industries awarded contract to BHEL for main package in June 2009. [2] It is 6x150MW project with first of its kind Turbo generators designed by BHEL specifically for this project. [3]

Clearances

The project has been accorded environmental clearance by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). [4]

Capacity

The planned capacity of the thermal power plant is 1350 MW. Phase I of 6x150MW units and Phase II of 5x150 MW units.

Talcher Thermal Power Station

Talcher Thermal Power station is located in Talcher sub-division of Angul district in the Indian state of Odisha Pin.759101. The existing plant was closed on 31 March 2021 with the plans to set up a new plant still in discussion phase. The power plant is one of the coal-based plants of NTPC. The coal for the power plant is sourced from Jagannath Mines of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. Source of water for the plant is from Brahmani River. It has its own railway station and is well connected to three other important stations in close vicinity: Talcher Road, Angul and Talcher Stations. This power plant has been ranked among the best power plants in the country despite being the oldest plant in the state. It has consistently topped the charts in NTPC for the last four years and was also the nation's top power plant in 2015-16.

Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant is a coal-fired power plant located in the outskirts of Visakhapatnam city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The power plant is one of the coal fired power plants of NTPC, a Government of India enterprise. The coal for the power plant is sourced from Kalinga Block of Talcher Coal fields in Odisha. The plant is a national asset, and power generated is shared between multiple states, as the operator is national. Power generated by units 1 and 2, making up for 1,000 MW, is dedicated to power distribution companies owned by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The remaining 1,000 MW, generated by units 3 and 4, is allocated to the states of Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, A. P., Telangana and pondicherry as per their shares as decided in PPA.

Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGC) is the only thermal power generating company owned by the Government of Odisha. It was incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 on 14 November 1984. OPGC started as a solely owned Government Company of the state of Odisha. It owns and operates four units of power plant- 2 units of 210 MW each and 2 units of 660 MW each totaling a generation capacity of 1740 MW of power at Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS), Banharpali in Jharsuguda District of Odisha. The generation from these units is committed to GRIDCO on the basis of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement.

Jharsuguda–Vizianagaram line Railway line in India

The Jharsuguda–Vizianagaram line is a railway line in eastern India.
