Adrian Maginn (born 1953 in Melbourne) is an Australian former rowing coxswain and rowing coach. He was a five-time national champion and won a bronze medal at the 1978 World Rowing Championships.
Maginn's rowing association with the Mercantile Rowing Club started as a thirteen year old in 1967 before he took up coxing at school. He then coxed the St Kevin's College, Melbourne first VIII for three consecutive years from 1968 to 1970. [1]
As a seventeen year old in his first year out of school Maginn took up the ropes of the 1971 Victorian senior men's eight contesting the King's Cup at the 1971 Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. That crew came home over South Australia in the final 500m and Maginn won his first Australian Championship title - a King's Cup victory. [1] Maginn steered other Victorian eights contesting the King's Cup in 1972, 1973 and 1977 to places but no victories. [1]
In 1970 and 1974 he competed at the Australian Rowing Championships in Mercantile men's junior eights. [2] The 1974 eight won that championship title. In 1975 in Mercantile colours he won a national championship in the stern of a second-grade eight. [3] 1976 saw him in a composite Monash/MUBC coxed four which competed at the Australian Championships and he coxed another Monash/MUBC four to a second place in 1977. [4]
In 1977 Maginn moved to the Melbourne University Boat Club and to an involvement in their lightweight program. He was in the stern of the 1978 MUBC lightweight eight which won the national championship that year and was selected to cox the Victorian state lightweight four which won in that last year when the interstate lightweight title was contested in a coxed boat. [1] In 1979 he coxed a Mercantile/MUBC lightweight eight to second place in their national title attempt at the Australian Rowing Championships. [5]
Maginn made his sole Australian representative appearance at the 1978 World Rowing Championships - a lightweight only championships - in Copenhagen. He steered the Australian lightweight eight to a bronze medal. [6]
Maginn carried on coaching at the MUBC after his coxing career ceased. He coached the 1980 MUBC eight to victory at the 1980 Intervarsity Championships in Canberra. [1] In 1981 he coached the Victorian state youth eight which contested the Noel Wilkinson Trophy at the 1981 Interstate Regatta. [7]
He has had a long association with Masters rowing at the Melbourne University Boat Club. [1]
David G. A. Douglas is an Australian former rower. He was a five-time Australian national champion, won a gold medal at the inaugural North American rowing championships in 1967 and won a silver medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics.
David Webster is an Australian national champion rowing coxswain who steered Australian crews at six World Rowing Championships and won two world championship titles in 2010 and 2011.

Tobias (Toby) Lister is a former Australian rowing coxswain. He is a ten-time Australian national champion, competed in the men's eight at the 2012 London Olympics and won a bronze medal at World Championships in 2010.
Paul Anthony Thompson MBE is an Australian elite level rowing coach and former rower. As a rower he was an Australian under-age champion, won a silver medal at the 1985 U23 World Championships and rowed in senior King's Cup eights for both South Australia and New South Wales. He has coached Australian and British crews to World Championship titles and Olympic medals including taking Kate Slatter and Megan Still to Australia's first women's Olympic rowing gold at Atlanta 1996. By 2012 he was Great Britain's head coach for women and lightweights and took British crews to three gold and two silver medals at London 2012. Since 2022 he has been Rowing Australia's High Performance Director.
Lyall McCarthy OAM is a former Australian national champion lightweight rower and national rowing coach. He has coached Australian crews to gold medals at the World Rowing Championships and the Olympic Games.
Alastair Isherwood is an Australian lightweight rower and a former world champion. He won a gold medal at the 1997 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette with the lightweight men's eight. He later worked as a rowing coach.
Marc Douez is an Australian former national champion and world champion rowing coxswain.
James Rook is an Australian national representative rowing coxswain. He is an Olympian and a medallist at the 2017, 2018 and 2019 World Rowing Championships and a winner of the Remenham Challenge Cup at the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta. Dennis Hatcher is an Australian former rower. He was an Australian national champion and won a bronze medal at the 1978 World Rowing Championships in the lightweight division.
Brian Richardson is an Australian former rower and rowing coach. He competed at the national elite level over a fifteen-year period representing both South Australian and Victoria. He was a representative at three world championships and at the 1976 Montreal and the 1980 Moscow Olympics. In a twenty-three year coaching career, he held national head coaching roles in both Canada and Australia from 1993 to 2008 and personally coached national crews to twelve world championship or Olympic medals.
