Adrienne C. Thomas is a former acting Archivist of the United States. [1] She assumed the position of Acting Archivist when the ninth Archivist,Allen Weinstein,announced his resignation on December 7,2008,effective December 19. Weinstein explained that he was resigning for health reasons. [2] [3] She was succeeded by David Ferriero,who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on November 6,2009,as the tenth Archivist of the United States. [4] After 40 years with the National Archives,Ms. Thomas retired on April 1,2011. [5]
Thomas is a graduate of Iowa State University with a master's degree in American history. [6]

After his resignation,he returned to the International Foundation for Electoral Systems as a senior strategist and was a visiting faculty member at the University of Maryland.

On December 7,2006,the George W. Bush administration's Department of Justice ordered the unprecedented midterm dismissal of seven United States attorneys. Congressional investigations focused on whether the Department of Justice and the White House were using the U.S. attorney positions for political advantage. The allegations were that some of the attorneys were targeted for dismissal to impede investigations of Republican politicians or that some were targeted for their failure to initiate investigations that would damage Democratic politicians or hamper Democratic-leaning voters. James Edwin McPherson is an American government official and retired United States Navy rear admiral. He served as the General Counsel of the Army from January 2,2018,to March 24,2020. David Sean Ferriero is an American librarian and library administrator,who served as the 10th Archivist of the United States. He previously served as the Director of the New York Public Library and as the University Librarian and Vice Provost for Library Affairs at Duke University. Prior to his Duke position,he worked for 31 years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology library. Ferriero was the first librarian to serve as Archivist of the United States.

On October 27,2017,Boente announced he would resign from the Department of Justice after a successor is in place. On January 23,2018,Boente was named general counsel to the FBI by the director Christopher A. Wray,filling the vacancy after James Baker's reassignment to another part of the bureau.
