Jalalabad is a small village of Gilgit District in Pakistan, located around 20 km east of Gilgit city. The village has a population of 5,000 households and approximately 40,000 residents. All of the inhabitants are Shia Muslims. The Bagrote River is the source of irrigation and the village's own powerhouse provides electricity. During the 1940s, people from Bilchar Valley, with the help of the British Indian Government, created water canals and established an irrigation system. It is predominantly agricultural land. There are two separate government high schools for boys and girls, Al-Mustafa Public School for both boys and girls. There are a large number of primary and middle schools. The literacy rate is approximately 96%. The village was the major victim of sectarian violence in 1988, when extra-regional forces consisting of thousands of armed militiamen under the command of General Zia Ul Haq and the Government ruined this village, burned houses, killing many innocent people. After this incident, the village was reconstructed. Now it is the center of Shias in Gilgit. The head of Shias of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khateeb of Gilgit Imamia Masjid Agha Rahat Hussain Al-Hussaini also come from this village.
Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) is an area which was affiliated with Pakistan in 1948. There was no educational system at the time. Gradually some of the more ambitions students of GB moved toward different cities in search of a better education. Some of them returned to their home after completion of their education, and started teaching their children, thus making people aware of what it was to be literate. After several years, schools were opened in Gilgit-Baltistan and thus its educational system came into being.
Garam Chashma is one of the many branch valleys of Chitral District, situated in the extreme north-west of Pakistan. It is one of the highest human settlements in the Hindukush ranges with an altitude of almost 2550 meters. The place is known for its hot spring, which is one of the tourist attraction sites. It is also famous for its trout fish. The water flowing down through the length of the valley is famous for fishing sports. The Lotkoh River running down from the lofty peaks of the Hindu Kush is most suitable for the brown type of trout fish. Other features of the area include snow-covered peaks, pleasant weather, and natural springs, and more recently, has remained in the limelight for being a potential site of hydropower generation. Besides tourists, people suffering from skin diseases also visit the hot spring for treatment. It is located in the northwest of Chitral at a distance of about forty-eight kilometres by road. It shares international borders with Afghanistan being situated in the extreme northwest of Pakistan. Dorāh Pass connects this part of Pakistan with Badakhshan, the adjacent province of Afghanistan.
Dourkhan or Dorkhan a small town in Gilgit–Baltistan, Pakistan, 1 km from Ali Abad. Dourkhan village is a residential area consisting of about 150 houses. A middle school run by the education department of Gilgit–Baltistan is located in Dourkhan, and in 2012 an Air Foundation School system campus was also established. The civil session court of Hunza–Nagar District is also located in Dourkhan, as are offices of PWD and XEN. The best gem-quality ruby crystals were extracted from the Dorkhan deposit in the lower zone of corundum mineralization. Pink, violet and almost colourless sapphire is less common than ruby. Corundum var: Ruby and Corundum var: Sapphire.. In the early 1970s there was a special project of mining gemstones which was at a standstill due to government action. Nowadays some young people mainly unemployed try to find rubies and other precious gems in long tunnels approximately 1 km long.
Agha Shaukat Ali (1919–2013) was a civil servant turned politician in the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, British Indian Empire. He served as the General Secretary of the Muslim Conference party in the years preceding the Partition of India. Having migrated to Pakistan after the partition, he served as a Pakistani civil servant, writer and diplomat.

Sher Qilla Valley: or Sherqilla is a village in Ghizer District, 38 kilometres from Gilgit, Pakistan. It is the largest village of Ghizer District by area. The Ghizer District ضلع غذر formed in 1974 is the westernmost part of the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. Currently, it is proposed to split Ghizer District into two 2 districts.
Konodas is a small town near Gilgit city across Ghizer River. Three suspension bridges including one concrete bridge connect Konodas to the city. One among three bridges is the oldest suspension bridge from Raja-era, constructed in 1905.

Salima Begum is a Pakistani teacher, teacher educator, and educationist from Gilgit-Baltistan. She was one of the top 10 finalists for the Global Teacher Prize in 2017 and won the World of Difference Award in 2019. Currently, she is the headteacher at the Government Elementary College For Women, Gilgit.
