Agnes Christin Mashishi (born 11 March 1961) [1] is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2008 to 2014. From 2009 onwards, she served the Limpopo constituency.
Mashishi was sworn in to the National Assembly on 31 October 2008 following a large wave of resignations in the ANC caucus, occasioned by the resignation of President Thabo Mbeki. [2] Mashishi filled the seat vacated by former Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka. [3] In the next general election in 2009, she was elected to a full term in the assembly, now in the Limpopo caucus rather than off the national party list. [4] She did not stand for re-election in 2014. [4]
The Congress of the People (COPE) is a South African political party formed in 2008 by former members of the African National Congress (ANC). The party was founded by former ANC members Mosiuoa Lekota, Mbhazima Shilowa and Mluleki George to contest the 2009 general election. The party was announced following a national convention held in Sandton on 1 November 2008, and was founded at a congress held in Bloemfontein on 16 December 2008. The name echoes the 1955 Congress of the People at which the Freedom Charter was adopted by the ANC and other parties, a name strongly contested by the ANC in a legal move dismissed by the Pretoria High Court.
Noxolo Kiviet is a South African politician who has served as the Minister of Public Service and Administration since March 2023. She was formerly the Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure from 2019 to 2023 and also served as the Premier of the Eastern Cape from 2009 to 2014.

Limpopo is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa, the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa, the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established as Northern Transvaal in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It was renamed Northern Province in 1999 and Limpopo in 2004. It is conterminous with the province of Limpopo. The constituency currently elects 19 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 2,608,460 registered electors.
Masefako Clarah Dikgale is a South African politician who was a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2019 to 2023. Prior to serving in the National Assembly, she served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from Limpopo from 2009 to 2019. Semenya has been a Member of Parliament since 2014.
Maropene Ramokgopa is a South African politician who is the Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, in office since March 2023. She has been the Second Deputy Secretary-General of the African National Congress (ANC) since December 2022 and a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since February 2023. She is also the coordinator of the interim task team that was appointed in June 2022 to lead the ANC Women's League. She formerly served as a special advisor to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Thandi Moraka is a South African politician who is currently serving as a Member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature. She was Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sports, Arts and Culture in the Limpopo provincial government between July 2018 and October 2022. She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC) and in 2022 was elected to a five-year term on the party's National Executive Committee. She formerly served as Deputy Secretary-General of the ANC Youth League from 2015 to 2019 and as a member of the Limpopo ANC's Provincial Executive Committee from 2018 to 2022.
Joyce Clementine Moloi-Moropa is a South African politician who has been the treasurer of the South African Communist Party (SACP) since 2012. She represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2008 to 2016 and before that from 2001 to 2004. She chaired Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications from 2014 until her resignation at the end of February 2016, and in that capacity she was frequently at odds with the communications ministry and board of the SABC.
Tshiwela Elidah Lishivha, also known as Elda Leshika, is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2014. She was first elected in the 1999 general election, serving the Limpopo constituency. She was narrowly re-elected to the Limpopo caucus in 2004, and she was re-elected in 2009 off the ANC's national party list. During her third term in the assembly, she was a member of the Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation.
Helen Flora Matlanyane, formerly known as Helen Malebana, is a South African politician from Limpopo. She served two non-consecutive terms in the National Assembly, from 1999 to 2004 and from 2009 to 2014, and in the interim she served in the National Council of Provinces from 2004 to 2009. She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).
Buoang Lemias Mashile is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in Parliament from 2004 to 2019. He served in the National Assembly for two non-consecutive terms from 2004 to 2009 and from 2014 to 2019. In the interim, he served in the Mpumalanga caucus of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).
