Nazran is the largest city in Ingushetia, Russia. It served as the republic's capital from 1991 to 2000, until it was replaced by Magas, which was built for this purpose. It is the most populous city in the republic: 122,350 (2021 Census); 93,335 (2010 Census); 125,066 (2002 Census); 18,246 (1989 Census).
Ingushetia or Ingushetiya, officially the Republic of Ingushetia, is a republic of Russia located in the North Caucasus of Eastern Europe. Ali Musaevich Taziev, also known as Akhmed Yevloev, Magomet Yevloyev, and Emir Magas; born 19 August 1974) is the former leader of both the Ingushetia-based Ingush Jamaat and as the military wing of the Caucasus Emirate. On 30 September 2006, Taziev was appointed to the post of commander of the Caucasian Front by the orders of Dokka Umarov. In July 2007, one year after Shamil Basayev’s death, Taziev became his official successor as the most high-ranking military commander in the rebel forces. He is believed to be personally responsible for the death of several local high-ranking security officials.
Mt. Shani also known as Shan and Shanloam is a mountain in the Caucasus. It has an elevation of 4,451 metres (14,603 ft) and is on the international border between Georgia and Ingushetia, Russia. The mountain rises immediately to the east of Stepantsminda, Georgia.
Galashki is a rural locality in Sunzhensky District of the Republic of Ingushetia, Russia, located on the left bank of the Sunzha River near the border with the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania. Its population was about 9,000 people in 2009. Galashki forms the municipality of the rural settlement of Galashki as the only settlement in its composition.
Ahmed Tatarkhanovich Malsagov was a Russian pilot in 5th Short-range Bomber Aviation Regiment during the Second World War who was killed in action. In 1995 he was declared a Hero of the Russian Federation.
Idris Murtuzovich Bazorkin was a Soviet writer, playwright, poet and statesman who mainly wrote his works in Russian but also in Ingush in a lesser degree. He had been recognized a classic of the Ingush literature during his lifetime.
The 2018-2019 protests in Ingushetia are thousands of people, initially unauthorized round-the-clock protest in Magas against the Agreement on Securing the Border Between Regions, signed by the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov and the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov on September 26, 2018, as well as its ratification by the deputies of the People's Assembly of the Republic of Ingushetia. The protest began on October 4, 2018 and was declared indefinite. On the fifth day, the rally was sanctioned by the authorities until October 15. The break of the round-the-clock protest lasted from 18 to 31 October 2018. The next rally took place on November 27, 2018, on the day of the consideration by the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation of the request of the head of the Republic of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, on the compliance of the Constitution of the Russian Federation with the Agreement on the Establishment of the Administrative Boundary between Ingushetia and Chechnya. After a four-month break on March 26, 2019, the rally in Magas was resumed and declared indefinite.
The Fyappins were an Ingush subgroup (society) that mostly inhabited the mountainous Fappi region of Ingushetia in the Caucasus. Historically they bordered on the west with Dzherakh, on the east with Khamkhins, on the north with Nazranians, and lastly in the south with Gudomakarians. The centre of the society was the fortified village (aul) of Erzi or Metskhal.
Akhmed Dogayev is a Russian political figure and a deputy the 7th and 8th State Dumas. From 2013 to 2016, he headed the representation of the Head of the Chechen Republic in the Southern Federal District. In 2015, he was elected chairman of the council of representatives of the head of the Chechen Republic in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
The Nazran okrug, known after March 1917 as the Ingush okrug, was a district (okrug) of the Terek Oblast of the Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire, and after 1921, the Mountain ASSR of the Russian SFSR within the Soviet Union. The district was modest in its population of 59 thousand and size of approximately 1,500 square kilometres (580 sq mi), the smallest of all the Terek Oblast's subdivisions in both measures. The administrative centre of the district was the city of Vladikavkaz.
Akhmed Sosievich Khuchbarov (1894–1956) was an Ingush abrek (outlaw), guerilla fighter and warlord who led an Ingush resistance against the Soviet regime for 27 years up until his death in 1956. Akhmed made numerous operations and attacks on NKVD and KGB members, avenging the deported Ingush, thus being considered a national hero to the Ingush people.
