Lieutenant General Ahsan Azhar Hayat Khan is a retired three-star rank Army General.

Early life

He was born in 1952 to a family belonging to the Khattar Tribe in Wah, Pakistan. He served as Pakistan's ambassador to Jordan. He was appointed in 2013 and served until 2015. [6]

Military career

Hayat had served as the Commandant of the Pakistan Military Academy, IG Training & Evaluation [7] and Commander V Corps.

He also attended Hamid Gul's and Guls wife's funeral [8]

Gul was notable for serving as the Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan's premier intelligence agency, between 1987 and 1989. During his tenure, Gul played an instrumental role in directing ISI support to Afghan resistance groups against Soviet forces in return for funds and weapons from the US, during the Soviet–Afghan War, in co-operation with the CIA.

Nauman Mahmood HI(M) is lieutenant general in the Pakistan Army currently serving as the 35 president of the National Defence University since 23 November 2021. His previous assignments includes commanding officer of Infantry Regiment and chief of staff of a Corps. He also served as general officer commanding (GOC) of an Infantry Division in North Waziristan District, director general Inter-Services Public Relations (Analysis). He was appointed to the General Headquarters as inspector general for Communication & Information Technology Branch at Rawalpindi.
