Aiken County is a county in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2020 census, its population was 168,808. Its county seat and largest city is Aiken. Aiken County is a part of the Augusta-Richmond County, GA-SC Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is mostly in the Sandhills region, with the northern parts reaching in the Piedmont and southern parts reaching into the Coastal Plain.

Founded in 1835, Aiken was named after William Aiken, the president of the South Carolina Railroad. As of the 2014–15 school year, the curriculum enrollment was 10,070 and continuing education enrollment was 14,053 students. As of 2019–20, the college is the seventh largest in the North Carolina system and the largest in Western North Carolina. A-B Tech offers more than 120 degrees, diplomas, and certificates.

Tri-County Technical College is a public community college in Pendleton, South Carolina. It is part of the South Carolina Technical College System. Established in 1962, Tri-County Technical College has four campuses in Pendleton, Anderson, Easley, and Seneca, serving Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties. The college has a partnership with nearby Clemson University to allow students who plan to declare a limited enrollment major or missing college-level credits at Clemson to enroll at Tri-County and transfer to Clemson after two semesters whilst holding status as Clemson Students.

Palmetto College is the online bachelor's completion program of the University of South Carolina System. The college is made up of the four two-year degree-granting institutions of the USC system: USC Lancaster, USC Salkehatchie, USC Sumter and USC Union. Students who have 60 college credit hours can be admitted to Palmetto College and receive a bachelor's degree. The bachelor's degrees are offered through one of the senior campuses of USC: University of South Carolina Aiken, University of South Carolina Beaufort, University of South Carolina Columbia or University of South Carolina Upstate.
Bill Taylor is an American politician. He is a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 86th District, serving since November 8, 2010. He is a member of the Republican party. The 86th district covers nearly two-thirds of Aiken County, South Carolina and consists of a population more than 41,000. Taylor currently is a member of the House Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee. He served for a decade on the House Education and Public Works Committee, and six years on the Legislative Oversight Committee.
