Aijaz Ahmad Khan popularly known as Aijaz Khan is an Indian politician and was a member of the 10th,11th and 12th Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from Gool Arnas constituency. [1] He served as Minister of various portfolios from 2002 to 2014 in Jammu and Kashmir Govt under the Chief Ministership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed,Ghulam Nabi Azad and Omar Abdullah. He also served as Deputy Leader of Congress Legislative Party from 2014 to 2018 [2] He left Congress and became founding member of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) formed on 8 March 2020.He was also the Vice President of PAC ( Political Affairs Committee ) and member CWC of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party . Prior to Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir,Khan left Apni Party and decided to contest elections as Independent from Gulabgarh constituency.
Ajaz Ahmad Khan was born on 21 November 1968 in Thuroo,Dharmari to a renowned Gujjar leader Haji Buland Khan from Jammu &Kashmir who held various posts in the state government. Ajaz did his early schooling from Govt. High School,Thuroo located at Reasi. He did his B.A. from Jammu University Jammu. In 1996,he completed his LLB from Jammu University. [3] He married Farhat Un Nisa Khan in 2003. His younger brother Haji Mumtaz Ahmad Khan was also a member of 12th Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from Gulabgarh constituency. His one sister is married to Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali. [4]
Ajaz joined politics in 1996 soon after completing LLB. In 1996,he contested elections on the ticket of NC from Gulabgarh assembly and got defeated by as margin of 956 votes only. Then he got appointed as District President of NC from Reasi District i.e Udhampur II. In 2002,he again contested as an independent candidate from two assembly segments;Gool Arnas and Gulabgarh and he got victory from Gool Arnas. And thus in 2002,he joined Indian National Congress. Then in 2008 and 2014,he got victory from Gool Arnas.
He remained minister since 2002 up to 2014 in the Govt of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed,Ghulam Nabi Azad and Omar Abdullah. [5] [6] He held various departments in the Mufti Mohammed Sayeed,Ghulam Nabi Azad and Omar Abdullah Government. [7] [8] He is so efficient leader that once he had charge of 13 departments. [9] In 2020,he along with Altaf Bukhari formed a new political party,Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party [10]
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was an Indian politician who served twice as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from November 2002–November 2005 and March 2015–January 2016. He was also Minister of Tourism in Rajiv Gandhi's cabinet and Home Minister of India in V. P. Singh's cabinet. He started in the wing of the National Conference led by G. M. Sadiq,which later merged into the Indian National Congress. He switched to Janata Dal in 1987,eventually founding his own regional party,People's Democratic Party (PDP). The PDP continues to be a political force in Jammu and Kashmir,currently led by his daughter Mehbooba Mufti.
Ghulam Nabi Azad is an Indian politician who served as Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha between 2014 and 2021. He also served as the Chief Minister of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir from 2005 to 2008. On 26 September 2022,Azad announced his own political party as Democratic Progressive Azad Party. He is the chief patron cum founder of Democratic Progressive Azad Party.
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a state political party in Jammu and Kashmir,India. The PDP was headed and founded by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. His daughter,Mehbooba Mufti,succeeded him as party leader and as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir following his death in January 2016. The party is a member of the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration electoral alliance. The party is also a member of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance since its founding on 18 June 2023.
Reasi district is an administrative district in the Jammu division of Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir in the Jammu region. The Reasi district is bordered by Udhampur district and Ramban district in the east,Jammu district in the south,Rajouri district in the west and by Kulgam district on the north. The Reasi and Rajouri tehsils formed a joint district called the "Reasi district" at the time of the princely state's accession to India in 1947. As part of the reorganisation,the two tehsils were separated and Reasi was merged with the Udhampur district. It again became a separate district in 2006.

Gool Arnas Assembly constituency is one of the 87 constituencies in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir a north state of India. Gool Arnas is also part of Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency. Gool Arnas was not a constituency until 1995 when it was created by way of delimitation. In fact the Arnas constituency was bifurcated into two parts- Gool Arnas and Gulabgarh.

On 3 October 2022,Chib was appointed as General Secretary for Democratic Azad Party.
