Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III is the Olowo of Owo and Ruler of Owo Land in Ondo State, Nigeria. [1] He became the Olowo after his father, Oba Adekola Ogunoye II, who held the title from 1968, until his death in 1992. On December 14, 2019, Ogunoye was formally installed as a traditional ruler in a significant ceremony in Ondo State. The event marked the beginning of his reign as he was presented with the staff of office by Governor Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu. This symbolic act affirmed Ogunoye's authority and leadership within his community. The presentation marked the formal start of his reign and symbolized his role within the traditional leadership structure of Ondo State. [2] [3] [4]
Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye was born on July 6, 1966, into the royal family of Owo. His father, Oba Adekola Ogunoye II, was the [[Olowo of Owo] [5] He studied law at the Nigerian Law School in Abuja and was called to the Nigerian Bar, qualifying as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. [6] Before ascending the throne, he worked in public service, including as a director of finance in Ondo State. [7]
After his appointment as permanent secretary, [8] Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III left the civil service to ascend to the throne as the 32nd Olowo of Owo. [9] Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III stated:
Though, there is no single manufacturing industry in Owo, the Igogo festival will be exploited by attracting huge visitors to pour in and spend their money, thereby boosting the local economy
