The Turkman gate demolition and, subsequent, massacre was an infamous case of political oppression and police brutality during the Emergency when people, protesting against the demolitions of their homes, were mowed down on orders from Indira Gandhi's Union government, on 31 May 1976. An official account of the number of people killed at Turkman gate is not available and the media was not allowed to cover the protests and massacre. One local guide claimed that nine of his friends were killed by the police. More than ten bulldozers razed down illegal structures and homes, and protestors were fired upon by police.

Founded in 2011, the portal publishes fake news reports, comic strips, mock transcripts, fake Facebook and Twitter conversations among other formats, combining irreverent humour with biting satire in its commentary on current events. The Unreal Times has been referred to as The Onion of India, most notably by tech blog makeuseof.com. The Unreal Times shut down in November, 2016 for unknown reasons.

An adaptation of the South Korean drama, Ode to My Father (2014), it traces India's post-independence history from the perspective of a common man, and follows his life from the age of 8 to 70.

The series is produced and directed by Raj & D.K, who also co-wrote the story and screenplay with Suman Kumar, with dialogue penned by Sumit Arora and Kumar. Samantha Ruth Prabhu was hired for the second season of the series as the main antagonist, making her foray into the digital medium with Suparn S. Verma directing a section of the season.
