Akhil Bharatiya Sena (lit. All India Army) is a political party [1] founded in 1997 in Mumbai, Maharashtra by Arun Gawli (alias 'Daddy'). [2] Gawli had earlier been close to the Shiv Sena supremo, Bal Thackeray, but in 1996 a bloody feud surged between them when Arun Gawli mercilessly slew several Sena party legislators and party workers. Gawli then formed a separate party. [3] [4]

In the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2002 the ABS candidate Sunil Ghate defeated the Sena candidate in Gawli's home turf. Ghate is today the sole ABS corporator in BMC. [5]

In the Lok Sabha elections 2004 Gawli got 92,210 votes (26.5%) in the constituency Mumbai South Central.

In the Maharashtra state assembly elections later the same year ABS launched 20 candidates. One (Gawli) got elected.

The trade union wing of ABS is called Akhil Bharatiya Kamgar Sena.

In 2007 BMC elections (Mumbai city council) ABS won 2 seat. His daughter Geeta Gawali won and became corporator on ABS ticket. In 2009 ABS supported Congress party and its candidate Milind Deora on Mumbai South. In 2010 Arun Gawali and all his candidates lost the election for (vidhan sabha) Maharashtra Assembly election. In 2017 new candidate Santosh (Henry) Alfred DSaoza joined Akhil Bhartiya Sena from Ward No 209. However, he lost the election and he is now Byculla Taluka Adhyaksha.

Arun Gulab Gawli also known as Arun Gulab Ahir, is an Indian politician, underworld don and retired gangster. Gawli and his brother Kishor (Pappa) entered the Mumbai underworld in the 1970s, when they joined the "Byculla Company", a criminal gang led by Rama Naik and Babu Reshim, operating in the central Mumbai areas of Byculla, Parel and Saat Rasta. In 1988, after Rama Naik was killed in a police encounter, Gawli took over the gang and began operating it from his residence, Dagdi Chawl. Under his control, the gang controlled most criminal activities in the central Mumbai areas. Throughout the late eighties and nineties, Gawli's gang was involved in a power struggle with Dawood Ibrahim's D-Company gang. Gawli is also the founder of the Akhil Bharatiya Sena political party based in Maharashtra.

Akhil Bharatiya Kamgar Sena is a trade union centre in Maharashtra, India. ABKS is the labour wing of the Akhil Bharatiya Sena of Arun Gawli. Gawli is the president of ABKS. At the time of its foundation, ABKS claimed a membership of 50 000. Soon after the launching of ABKS, the new union was able to take over some workplace unions previously run by Bharatiya Kamgar Sena or Maharashtra General Kamgar Union, in companies like Oberoi Hotels and the Tata Cancer Hospital. ABKS was able to establish a foothold amongst the employees at National Rayon, Reliance and public sector units like SICOM and IRCON.

Sanjay Dina Patil is an Indian politician from Mumbai. He was elected to Maharashtra State assembly in 2004 from Bhandup. In 2009, he was elected to 15th Lok Sabha from Mumbai North East constituency in Maharashtra state in India, as a Nationalist Congress Party candidate. He lost the reelection for the same seat in 2014. He was succeeded by Kirit Somaiya of the Bharatiya Janata Party of India.

Originally from Mumbai, Raut was previously elected as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Vile Parle of Mumbai for 1999-2004 as a Shiv Sena candidate. Chinchpokli Assembly constituency was one of the 288 assembly constituencies of Maharashtra a western state of India. Chinchpokli was also part of Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency. Chinchpokli existed till 2004 elections until Byculla Assembly constituency was formed in 2008.

He served 3-terms as a Corporator in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and was leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Corporation.

Kishori Pednekar born 25 December 1962 is an Indian politician served as the mayor of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which is India's richest municipal corporation. She was elected as Mayor without any opposition. She worked as a nurse earlier on and once again in 2020, this time to motivate other healthcare workers during COVID-19 pandemic.
